Jimmy Mars A Close Runner-Up in Spring Shootout; Set for Batesville this Weekend

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) After almost a month away from the racetrack, the Mars Racing team rolled into the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on May 10-11 for the two-day 'Spring Shootout' weekend. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the doubleheader and a pair of $10,000 top prizes were on the line. Following a rain-out on Friday night, Saturday's portion of the weekend went off without a hitch.

Jimmy Mars timed in third quickest in Group B during the qualifying session and later took the win in his loaded heat race. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then started the 50-lapper from the outside of the front row and paced the stellar field for the first 37 circuits. At the conclusion of the caution-free affair, Jimmy found himself a very close second at the finish line behind only winner Brady Smith. Complete results from the 1/4-mile bullring can be accessed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the #28 team will be another Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stop, this time at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. The 2nd Annual ‘Bad Boy 98’ will take place at Mooney and Connie Starr’s facility on May 17-18. Qualifying and heat races are slated for Friday night, while a pair of B-Mains and the 98-lap feature event are scheduled for Saturday evening. The winner of the ‘Bad Boy 98’ will take home a hefty $20,000 winner’s check. Jimmy finished sixth in last year’s inaugural version of the race, which is sponsored by Bad Boy Mowers.
