Will Krup Captures Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Loot at Cedar Ridge Speedway

Morgantown, KY-May 18, 2013- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series retunred to action on Saturday evening at Cedar Ridge Speedway and 12th place starting Will Krup of Mount Carmel, IN scored his first-ever win with series and picked up $1,500 in the process in his #K9 Elite Chassis, Mullins Race Engines powered mount.

Outside polesitter Levi Kissinger would take the early race lead and would be pressured by the midpoint of the 30 lap, $1,500 to win event. On lap 16, Jewell would attempt to slidejob past Kissinger for the race lead, however, the pair would make contact, and the result would be Kissinger slowing to a stop on the backchute. This would result in red-flag situation when tempers got the best of some of those involved and crew members, resulting in both racers being disqualified. This turn of events would hand the lead of the event over to Will Krup and he would lead the remainder of the way, even surviving a late race caution that set up a green/white/checkered flag two-lap shootout to the finish. Current series points leader Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would take runner-up honors at the finish, while Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY would garner third place honors. Don Adams of London, KY and Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Robert Leach, John Demoss, Jessie Baize, Johnathon Epley, and Ricky Tinch. The 30 lap, $1.500 to win event would be slowed by seven caution periods (one resulting in a red flag).

In preliminary action, Levi Kissinger would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among a stout field of 39 entries at 15.216 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Bryan Barber, while Levi Kissinger scored the win in Williams Precision Engine heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Don Adams, with Bryce Jewell winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. The Wehrs Machine B-Mains were captured by John Demoss and Matt Hamilton. Series provisional starting spots went to Josh Ferguson and Ricky Tinch, while track provisional starting positions were taken by Nick Tharp and Billy Hawes.

The next events for the open-wheel warriors of the American Modified Series will be a doubleheader weekend of action on Friday June 21 at Moler Raceway in Williamsburg, OH and Saturday June 22 at Florence Speedway in Union, KY. Both events will be a $1,500 to win, $200 to start races.
