Josh McGuire Races to Top Five Gator 50 Finish; Preps for Skyline & I-77

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 Dirt Late Model team returned to racing action over the Memorial Day holiday weekend with a pair of events at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on May 25-26. On Saturday evening, a $2,000 top prize was up for grabs in a regular weekly show. Josh timed in second fastest during the qualifying session and later ran second in his heat race. The Grayson, Kentucky ace was then battling for the lead late in the A-Main with Ben Adkins and Rod Conley when an incident left him with front end damage, which relegated him to a disappointing fifteenth place effort.

At PRP on Sunday night, the unsanctioned 'Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50' took place and a $5,000 winner's check was on the line. Due to drawing a poor number, Josh timed in thirteenth quickest in qualifying prior to running second in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in the 50-lap feature event, Josh was able to pick off five competitors on his way to a solid fifth place performance behind only winner Jackie Boggs, Rod Conley, Ben Adkins, and R.J. Conley. Full results from the holiday double-dip can be accessed online at www.portsraceway.com.

Next up for the Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team is scheduled to be two more races in the states of Ohio and West Virginia on May 31 and June 1. On Friday night, Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio will be the track of choice, as the Buckeye State oval plays host to a $1,500 to win regular weekly show. Josh and the team will then trek to I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia on Saturday evening for a rare Ultimate Super Late Model Series showdown. A $5,000 to win program is planned for Saturday in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.
