Glen Hounshell, Jr. Grabs Weekend Warrior 30 Victory at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- June 14, 2013- Mother Nature would finally cooperate and Ponderosa Speedway would get to present the 3rd Annual Weekend Warrior 30 for the D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman division and Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY would take the win and an $800 payday. Other feature event winners for the evening would include Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, and Charles Burton of Somerset, KY in Airport Road Salvage Yard Four Cylinders.

Glen Hounshell, Jr. would take the lead at the start of the 3rd Annual Weekend Warrior 30 and survive a pair of late race caution flags and grab the $800 payday to become the third different winner of this event after leading all 30 laps to gain the win aboard his Wayne Bowen Racing Supply/R&R Builders/ Madison Windows/Lanham Scrap and Metal/Jennings Do It Best Home Center/V.C. Verlrons Contracting/Central Kentucky Sheet Metal/Pecco sponsored #20 Chevy Camaro SS. Derek Bottoms would take runner-up honors, while Allen Hackworth, Jr., Donnie Sullivan, and Jeremy Howard would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten were Russ Gabbert, Bartley Grant, Josh Vinyard, Reggie Ritchie, and Eddie Stewart. Twenty-one entries would see Hackworth be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 16.088 seconds, while Northside RV heat race wins went to Hounshell, Jr., Bottoms, and Sullivan.

Dustin Linville would lead the first 16 laps of the 25 lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event until a tangle with a slower would draw the caution flag and track official deemed Linville to be at fault for spinning the slower car and would have to restart at the rear and Victor Lee, who was running second at the time, clipped part of the incident and would pit with a flat right-rear tire. This turn of events would put Brad Neat at the point and he would lead the remainder of the way to pick up the win behind the wheel of the Tim Logan owned Tim Logan Racing/All Star Performance/5150 Trailers sponsored #11 Barry Wright Race Car powered by a Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Race Engine. Older brother Dustin Neat would finish second, followed by Justin Rattliff, David Webb, and Mike Strunk. Jeff Watson would head up the second five at the finish, with Linville driving back to seventh, followed by Lee would returned with a new right-rear tire, Jay Mobley, and Johnny Wheeler. Fourteen entries saw Brad Neat as the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 13.892 seconds, with the Country 100.9 MIKE FM heat races going to Linville and Lee.

Bryan Barber would take the lead at the green flag at the start of the 20 lap Bluegrass Drug Store Modified main event and would survive a trio of late race cautions to take his second win of the season aboard his B&B Motorsports/Bilstein Shocks/All Star Performance/Maximum Energy Development/Hypercoils/Frankland Racing Equipment sponsored #10 Bandit Race Car powered by a Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Race Engine. Tommy Bailey would nip Jimmy Payne for second, while Benji Lee and Michael England completed the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Elliott Despain, Brent Denny, Dion Benningfield, Rocky Wilson, and Cy Cundiff. Nineteen entries would see Barber also be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 14.831 seconds, while Inter County Energy heat victories fell to Barber, England, and Despain.

Todd Coffman would continue his dominance in the Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Model division as he scored his fourth victory of the season by leading all 20 laps of the main event in the Sharon Coffman owned Premier Self Storage/Auto Connection/Muffler Shop/AllStar Racewear/ Spears Construction/Coffman’s Photography/Archie’s Tire Center/Harrod Farms/Todd’s Body Shop/ Wilson Equipment sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis. Zane Powell would take second, while Gary Yeager rolled home third, with Cole Bland and Jake Henry finishing fourth and fifth. Seven entries saw Coffman be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 14.679 seconds and Coffman also won the Colston Paving heat.

Charles Burton of Somerset, KY would lead the entire way in claiming the Airport Road Salvage Yard Four Cylinder feature aboard his D&M Muffler/Lake Cumberland Thrift Store/Delaney Engineering sponsored #1B. Adam Gregory would finish second, as there were only two cars signed in for the class and it was announced that the division will no longer be in competition after this event, since the car count has not grown in numbers.
