Crawley Races to Third USCS Season Win at Tri-County; Hosey Nabs First Career USCS 600 Victory!

Brasstown, NC - Defending USCS National Champion Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas raced to his third United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters feature win on Saturday night before a capacity crowd at Ray Cook's Tri County Racetrack in the mountains of western North Crolina. Crawley raced Mike Ward's #88 from the sixth starting position into the www.rockauto.com United Sprint Car Series victory lane in the 1st annual "Thunder in the Mountains" event.

Crawley took the lead with only one lap to go after National points leader Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas appeared to run out of fuel with one laps to go after leading the first 29 laps of the event. Past series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee finished in the runner-up spot followed by Eric Riggings, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina and Hagar coasted across the finish line in fourth place followed by veteran Ray Bugg from Iuka, Mississippi who rounded out the top five.

Veteran racer Terry Witherspoon from Jacksonville, Florida finished in sixth place followed by Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina finished seventh place. Joe Larkin from Suwannee, Georgia finished in eighth place followed by rookie driver Jay Dunham from Augusta, Georgia who drove his #51 home in the ninth finishing position. Another USCS rookie, Tanner Witherspoon from Jacksonville, Florida rounded out the top ten.

Lance Moss kicked of the evening's competition with a win in the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash. Ric Riggins, Jr. won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Terry Gray won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Terry Gray was awarded the K&N Filters Pole Award. Tim Crawley advanced the most positions to earn the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hardcharger Award.

The 2011 www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year, Sean Hosey from Clarksville, Tennessee, who started from the K&N Filters Pole Position passed early race leader Mike Magic from Winder, Georgia on lap 12 of the 20-lap main event to score a career-first feature win at Ray Cook's Tri County Racetrack on Saturday night. Magic collected his second runner-up finish of the weekend as he held off hard-charging defending series Champion Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi who finished in the K&N Filters Podium awarding position third place after starting tenth. Shane Nelson from Ooltewah, Tennessee finished in the fourth position and Matt McCullough from Powder Springs, Georgia rounded out the top five drivers.

Rookie driver, Shawn Nelson, also from Ooltewah, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place. Shuan Fitzgerald from Powder Springs, Georgia was seventh followed by 2013 USCS 600 Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year point's leader, Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia in eighth place. The only female racer in the field, Cassie Klenke from Greer, South Carolina finished in ninth place and veteran Bob Trapino from Alpharetta, Georgia rounded out the top ten drivers.

Shane Nelson kicked off the evenings racing activities by winning the six-lap Hoosier Race Tire Speed Dash. Sean Hosey then won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Matt McCullough won the www.rockauto.com Second Heat. Bobby Zaiontz advanced the most positions in the main event to collect the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hardcharger Award.
