Collin Thirlby Continues Quest For 2013 UMP DIRTcar Modifieds National Championship
Three Races in Three Days in Home State up next at Winston, Butler & I-96

Traverse City, Michigan (Thursday, June 20, 2013): Collin Thirlby has ran in 35 shows already in the 2013 racing season. He's currently second in the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) DIRTcar Racing Series Modifieds National Points Standings with Five Feature Wins already this year in with Two each in Illinois and Indiana and One in his home state of Michigan. He has 18 Top Fives and 26 Top 10 finishes. For most drivers, that's a pretty successful season, but not for Thirlby. He's not even halfway through the current campaign.

For the weekend of June 21-23rd, Thirlby and his Thirlby Automotive Racing Team will stay in the home state of Michigan for the entire weekend starting on Friday, June 21st at Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan and on Saturday, June 22nd back at Butler, both for UMP DIRTcar weekly racing action. Then on Sunday, June 23rd, Thirlby will head over to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan for the Summit Racing Equipment UMP DIRTcar Modifieds Nationals which travels in support of the UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour for UMP Super Late Models.

"We're excited to be racing close to home this weekend. The travel can get a little hectic sometimes and we all can get a little road weary," Thirlby stated. "We're looking forward to all three races this weekend, especially I-96. We won there twice last season and that track always seems to be good to us. So hopefully we can come out of the weekend with a win or two." He added.

"We've had some really good nights obviously with five wins at places we never thought we'd roll into and walk out of them with trophies. "The 23-year-old continued as he reflected on his 2013 racing season to date. "The most memorable win has got to be the last one though at Lincoln Park Speedway on June 8th. We had to run the B Main. We ended up winning that, then we started 16th in the Feature and we were able to come from the back to Win that one too. That was pretty exciting." He added.

His win at the Putnamville, Indiana speed plant goes with his four other triumphs which occurred May 25th at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Michigan; Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Illinois on May 12th. Preceding that was the biggest payday of the season so far coming at Peoria Speedway in Peoria Illinois back on April 14th for a $2,000 payday while the first victory of the season happened at Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, Indiana on April 5th.

"We've been pretty fortunate, pretty lucky actually with wrecks and other things that have happened. Sometimes you've got to put yourself in that situation to be there at the right place at the right time when things happen." The Traverse City, Michigan standout continued.

Thirlby has raced twice in the Modifieds Nationals with his best finish coming in the second race of the tour at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana on June 12th as he recorded an eighth place finish. He also appeared at Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois two nights later and unfortunately had problems in his Qualifier Heat Race and did not transfer into the A Main.
