Originally a Street Stock event, The Reno Memorial at Jackson County Speedway will now be run as an Octane Modified Invitational race paying $2,222 to win and $222 to start with a $9,000 purse.

The AMRA would also like to announce that an open wheel spectacular paying $2,000 to win and $300 to start along with a chance to run with Kenny Schrader will take place at Beckley, August 16, 2013. This event will also be an Octane AMRA Modified event.

The Schilling Memorial will again be racing under the banner of the American Motor Racing Association, and will be held Friday, June 28th at Billy Jarrell's Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio. Race organizers are looking forward to this historic $17,000 purse for the Octane AMRA Modifieds. Joining the Octane Modifieds on the race card will be the Kryptonite AMRA Late Models and Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association Sprint Cars.

Race organizers and talented AMRA Veterans Mike McPherson and Kenny Johnson said "This race is about a great friend and all the good that he stood for. Greg Schilling was a great person and a great racer. We would like to thank Billy Jarrell at Skyline for hosting this event and for contributing so much to a great cause."

Reno Memorial

The 5TH ANNUAL DAN RENO MEMORIAL has been changed to an OCTANE Modified Special Event on June 29. The June 28-June 29, 2013 weekend will be one of the biggest for dirt modifieds in the Midwest if not the entire nation as Skyline hosts the Greg Schilling Memorial the night before. The Reno Memorial at JACKSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY will now be ran as a Modified race paying $2,222 to win and $222 to start.
Discussions with Dan's brother Darrell led us to the decision to switch from the Street Stock class which Dan raced 4 seasons in to the Modified class which he also raced in for 2 years. Darrell said the support from the Street Stock drivers, crews and fans has been great the last 4 years for this race but the car counts are down at the only two tracks in the area still running the Street Stock class and he said it was time to move it to the other class of cars that Dan raced with in his career.
There will be more information on this race evening which will also include the 4th appearance of the season at JCS for the OVSCA 410 Winged Sprint Cars along with 4cyl Outlaws. Visit jacksoncospeedway.com for more info in the coming days.
"SATURDAY JUNE 29, 2013 Dan Reno Memorial $2,222.22 TO WIN! $200.22 TO START!Total payout of over $9,000.

OVS Topless Special

The Ohio Valley Speedway topless Modified special has long been a favorite for both the fans and the drivers. Taking the roof off gives fans a chance to see their favorite drivers in an old-school type style, churning on the wheel at every turn and hopefully winning the wrestling match between man and machine. Likewise, the drivers feel a sense of freedom and a self-imposed euphoria of having the extra wind blowing through their cuffs. This event pays $1,200 to win with further details to come.

Greg Schilling was one of the early young-guns in the Ohio Valley area when IMCA E-Mods migrated to the Ohio Valley from the Midwest. Greg was a hard-charger and won many races in the Ohio Valley area. Additionally, he later extended his fine talents to the AMRA circuit. Friends, racers, and sponsors have all come together in a big way to honor Greg's legacy.

The Greg Schilling Memorial Fund has been established to help families in the Beverly/Waterford area, Schilling's hometown. In 2003, Greg Schilling was diagnosed with colon cancer. He passed away on November 25, 2008. A memorial fund was started in memory of Greg. As this fund grows, money is put back into the community to help individuals or families who are in need of financial assistance. Each year at least one award is also given to a male and a female graduate from Fort Frye and Waterford High Schools in the form of an academic scholarship.

To date, $8,000 has been donated in scholarships to graduating seniors.

In addition to the scholarships, the fund also assists individuals or families that have an illness or a life-altering event that requires financial assistance. To date, over $13,000 has been given to individuals and families facing tragedies in life.

The purse for the event parallels a full-blown late model pay-off, featuring nearly $7,500 for the first five positions, The payoff is still the same with 19 cars starting according to one of the organizers. Payoff: 1-$1699, 2-$1599, 3-$1499, 4-$1399, 5-$1299, $799 for tenth, $299 for 15th, and $199 to start. The "99" at the end of each pay-off position is in honor of Schilling's number 99.

The inaugural winner was Chris Stotts, Shade, Ohio , the second annual event went to Rick Aukland of Zanesville, Ohio and Crooksville, Ohio's Matt Holcomb claimed the 2011 event.

Last year the race prevailed with 100 cars in the pits with a nice crowd and warm-tropical weather setting the back-drop. The race unfolded as another wonderful tribute for the 4th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial at Billy Jarrell's Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio. The headlining Schilling Memorial was a highly contested 30-lapper that saw local hotshoe Roy Roush, Guysville, Ohio claim the biggest win of his career in the $1,699 to win Malta AMRA Road Warrior A-main.

Rounding out the top ten were Roy Roush, Kenny Johnson, Mike McPherson, Jeremy Berwanger, Chris Stotts, Jesse Wisecarver, Jason Brookover, Rick Auckland, Kevin Morehouse, and Tyler Carpenter.

As always the AMRA wishes to invite drivers coming into the area to stop off at a Saturday night AMRA track and notes that Ohio Valley Speedway will be holding its Topless Modifed special June 29 paying $1,200 to win .
