Ponderosa Speedway’s Red Clay Bash-The Night Before the Butterball-Set for Friday July 12

Junction City, KY-June 30, 2013- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and track co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will have the 3/8 mile D-shaped clay oval known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” idle one more week prior to returning to action with the track’s 2nd Annual “Red Clay Bash-The Night Before the Butterball” on Friday July 12. The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models will race for $3,000 to win and the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win that evening, along with Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models and D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman in action in a regular racing program for those respective divisions.

Ponderosa Speedway will present the 2nd Annual Red Clay Bash-The Night Before the Butterball-on Friday July 12 and will see the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models race for $3,000 to win/$250 to start in a 40 lap main event and the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds race for $1,000 to win/$100 to start in a 25 lap main event. Also on the racing docket for Friday July 12 will be the Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Model racing for $600 to win (20 lap main event) and the D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman racing for $300 to win (15 lap feature event.). The event has the Night Before the Butterball added to it as it will take place the evening prior to the Butterball Memorial at Richmond Raceway on July 13, paying $7,500 to win for Super Late Models. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and may be rented at the track during driver registration and pill draw, which closes at 7:00 p.m.

Activities for the Friday July 12 event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m, while the general admission area opens at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:10 p.m., while practice laps will begin at 7:30 p.m. Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials will begin at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices for the 2nd Annual Red Clay Bash-The Night Before the Butterball-in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $5, children ages 5 and under will be free, and a pit pass will be $35.

The inaugural Red Clay Bash at Ponderosa Speedway was contested on Memorial Day weekend of 2012 and Victor Lee of Danville, KY, the current Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model division points leader, would take the victory in the inaugural event over Todd Coffman on Junction City, KY, Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN, Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, GA, and Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY that saw 26 drivers entered in the Super Late Model division. The Modified portion of the 2012 Red Clay Bash was won 2012 division track champion Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY, while Gerald Haynes, Jr. of Somerset, KY won the Sportsman division portion of the Red Clay Bash in 2012.

Ponderosa Speedway last raced on June 21 and feature event winners that evening included Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman.

Current track championship point leaders heading into the Friday July 12 event include Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models, and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman.
