CARTERSVILLE, GA – Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS drove “Noah’s Ark” the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to his series-leading eighth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS to grab a share of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point lead with Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS.

Daspit and Scarbrough each have 577 points at the top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 14 competition, and the halfway point of the 2013 season. Daspit has the tie-breaker advantage with more wins. Daspit has eight wins and 15 top five finishes in 17 races over 12 weeks of competition.

Scarbrough has two wins, seven top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 18 races over 13 weeks. The “Florence Flash” had a second-place finish in the first of two Hattiesburg Motorsports Park feature races on Friday night, the Week 4 Make-Up race, driving the Villa South Trak-Star.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 569 points after five top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 20 races over 14 weeks. Mackmer finished fourth in the HMP make-up race on Friday night in the Mackmer Home Buyers Special.

With Mackmer hitting the 14 week mark of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition, he will now begin netting points by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total among his best 14 with a higher one. “Motorcycle Mack’s” lowest weekly point total among his best 14 is a 0 as the result of a Week 8 disqualification, so it will be like he has an extra week to score full points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS had a big weekend in his Billy Riels Racing GRT, as he picked up two NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series wins and moved up to the fourth spot in the standings with 528 points. “The General” won the HMP make-up race on Friday night, and followed that up with a Saturday night win at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.

Lee has three wins, a series leading 17 top five finishes and a series-leading 18 top ten finishes in 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races over 11 weeks. Lee still has three more weeks to earn full points.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 496 points after five top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in 15 races over 12 weeks. “Big Nasty” had a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star.

The second five of the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings are separated by just seven points after the first 14 weeks of competition in the 27-week season.

T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN is sixth in the standings with 484 points after four top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 11 races over 11 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition in the 45 Race Shop GRT. Hays finished sixth on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 483 points after seven wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten races over ten weeks. “Big Sky” made a road trip to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL where he finished sixth – his worse finish of the season in the Zaxby’s Rocket.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN is still a NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series title contender and is eighth in the standings with 482 points after five wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten starts over ten weeks. Waggoner drove the Taylormade Performance Special to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 480 points after one win, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 13 races over 10 weeks. Moore finished fourth on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR driving the Custom Race Cars Trak-Star.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the MP Trucking Trak-Star to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. That moved Palasini up to the tenth spot in the standings with 477 points after four wins and eight top five finishes in 11 races over ten weeks.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL warmed up for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division event this Wednesday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL by taking his third straight win on Saturday night at “The Hornet’s Nest” driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT.

“Mr. Perfect” Chandler Petty of Austin, AR took his third NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win in his third start on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway driving the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket. Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN was the winner on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports.

Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS picked up his first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Ellis Welding Special. Frank Wilson of Harold, FL was a first-time winner on Saturday night driving the Wilson Lumber Trak-Star to victory at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Two-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge with 28 wins after Week 14 victories from Daspit, Palasini and Wilson. Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is second with 15 wins after a Week 14 victory from Petty.

Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is in the third spot with 14 wins after two Week 14 victories from Lee and one from Gauldin. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth with six wins.

Also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first wins are Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN.
