CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 16 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season will feature eight races in six different states, with a pair of $1,000-to-win events. There will be two races on Friday night, and six races on Saturday night. Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS leads the point standings in the battle for the $10,000 Championship.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will highlight Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 16 action with a $1,000-to-win race. Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will also be in action on Friday night.

Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will highlight Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 16 action with a $1,000-to-win race. This will be the first of four Villa South Assisted Living Summer Shootout events.

Saturday night Week 16 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series events will also be held at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

The weather played a role in shuffling up the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings, as several drivers that didn’t get to race because of rainouts dropped out of Top 10, and several drivers that did get to race moved into the Top 10. In looking at the Weekly Point Averages, or WPAs, the top two drivers on the WPA list aren’t even in the Top 10 of the standings.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 623 points after 13 weeks of competition. Daspit has the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 47.92 and he can earn full points for one more week.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.

Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one. The WPA is the average of their 14-week total, or up to the 14-week mark. A perfect point total is 700, and a perfect WPA is 50.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 618 points, and he has reached the 14-week mark of his season. Scarbrough will now begin to net points, and he will try to replace the lowest weekly total in his best 14, which is a 25.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the standings with 576 points after 12 weeks of racing, and has the third highest WPA at 48. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 569 points after 14 weeks of racing, and he will be netting on a 0.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 545 points after 13 weeks of competition. Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is sixth with 527 points after 11 weeks of racing, and has the fifth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 47.91.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is seventh in the standing with 518 points after 11 weeks of racing, and has the sixth highest WPA at 47.09. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 513 points after 11 weeks of competition, and has the seventh highest WPA at 46.64.

Joey Smith of Pomona, MO is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 509 points after 11 weeks of competition, and has the eighth highest WPA at 46.27. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR rounds out the top ten in the standings with 506 points, and is tied for the tenth highest WPA at 46.

There are four drivers in the second ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings that are on the Top 10 of the WPA list, including the top two drivers.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is 16th in the standings with 483 points after ten weeks of racing, but he has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 48.3.

Just behind Dudley in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings and the WPA list is Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN, who has 482 points in ten weeks of racing and the second highest WPA at 48.2.

Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is 18th in the standings with 462 points after ten weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition, and has the ninth highest WPA at 46.2. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is 19th in the standings with 460 points, and is tied for the tenth highest WPA at 46.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
