    Lake Cumberland Speedway Presents American Red Cross Benefit Race and Battle of the Bands July 20

    Burnside, KY-July 11, 2013- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove is excited to announce an event that is going to be a must-see and participate affair that is sure to be a crowd pleaser for all people, regardless of age, on Saturday July 20 as the track will present the American Red Cross 40 and also have a Battle of the Bands contest that afternoon prior to racing events, with all proceeds from this event going to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

    The Battle of the Bands contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon July 20 and will be limited to nine (9) bands that will be selected via the track’s Facebook page (Lake Cumberland Speedway) or by contacting the track. The winner of the Battle of the Bands will receive a $1,000 prize and will also perform throughout the evening with the local recording group “Ashes”, who will serve as the official entertainment for the evening. Officials from the American Red Cross will also be on hand and will accept donations as well during the afternoon.

    Also as part of this event, Lake Cumberland Speedway is also proud to announce it will be honoring all active and non-active military personnel during a special ceremony during the intermission part of the racing program on Saturday July 20 as way of paying tribute to the Armed Forces for all they do in protecting our country and guaranteeing our freedom. There will also be an event for children as well as also during intermission there will be bicycles races on the track for age groups ranging from ages 4 to 12 years old, with the winner of each age group receiving a trophy. Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy a great Saturday afternoon and evening of fun, fellowship, and entertainment and in the process, be a part of giving back to the local community.

    The Saturday July 20 racing program will feature the American Red Cross 40, featuring Super Late Models in competition in a 40 lap feature event that will pay $3,000 to the winner, along with the Modifieds racing for $800 to win in a 20 lap feature contest. Also on the racing card on Saturday July 20 will be the Sportsman/Road Hog division paying $300 to win in a 15 lap feature and Four Cylinders will race for $150 to win in a 10 lap feature.

    Activities for the Saturday July 20 American Red Cross Benefit event will see the pit area and general admission areas at 3:00 p.m. The Battle of the Bands will get underway at 4:00 p.m. and conclude around 7:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., while practice laps will begin at 7:30 p.m. Time trials will take place beginning at 8:00 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices for the Saturday July 20 event (which will get individuals into see the Battle of the Bands and the racing program) in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, while children ages 5 and under are admitted free. A pit pass will be $35.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway last raced on Saturday June 22 and feature event winners included Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY in Super Late Models, Tommy Gregory of Monticello, KY in Modifieds, Tim McMullin of Bronston, KY in Road Hogs, and Charles Burton of Somerset, KY in Four Cylinders.

    Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
