Jimmy Payne Victorious in Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Hope for Harlie at Cedar Ridge Speedway

Morgantown, KY- July 13, 2013- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series contested the Hope for Harlie Benefit event at Cedar Ridge Speedway on Saturday evening and second-generation racer Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY would score his first-ever series victory and the biggest win of his career by claiming the $3,000 payday in the event aboard the Richard Harlow owned Maximum Energy Development/Diamond Auto Collision/Barren River Pest Control/Paintless Dent Repair/Young’s Barber Shop sponsored #K1 Bandit Race Car powered by a Niebel Race Engine.

Polesitter Levi Kissinger would take the initial race lead and survive several early cautions and maintain a comfortable lead throughout the event. However, disaster would strike for Kissinger just two laps shy of the finish as Kissinger would spin his machine and draw a caution flag. This turn of events would put Jimmy Payne at the point and Payne would survive two restarts in the final couple of laps of the event to secure his first ever series victory. Trent Young of would take runner-up honors, while Bryce Jewell would finish in the third position. Series points leader Bryan Barber would finish fourth at the drop of the checkered flag, while Josh Harris would complete the top five in the finishing order.

The remainder of the top ten finishers in the Hope for Harlie Benefit event would be Dustin Isom, Matt Hamilton, Levi Kissinger, Matt Cooper, and Stephen Schnapt. The 35 lap, $3,000 to win event would be slowed by seven caution periods and take 34 minutes to complete.

In preliminary action, Jimmy Payne would be the Quick Car Racing Product top qualifier among 34 entries at 15.248 seconds. Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Levi Kissinger, while Tent Young scored the win in Williams Precision Engine heat two. Hypercoils heat three went to Jimmy Payne, with Bryce Jewell winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four. The Wehrs Machine B-Mains were captured by Zach Dennis and Don Adams.
