CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Week 17 schedule of events for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models features ten races over three nights in six different states. Week 17 action begins tonight with a $1,000-to-win race at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

There will be two Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 17 events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 17 races are scheduled for Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

The battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship continues to tighten up among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings, as the top three drivers have now reached the 14-week point in their respective seasons and will now be trying to net points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.

Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one. The Weekly Point Average is the average of their 14-week total, or up to the 14-week mark. A perfect point total is 700, and a perfect WPA is 50.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 673 points in his best 14 weeks of competition. Daspit has the third highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 48.07, and will be trying to net on a 36 in Week 17 action.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is second with a best 14-week point total of 640. Scarbrough will be trying to net on a 41. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 612 points among his best 14-week total. Mackmer will be trying to net on a 41.

The rest of the drivers in the point standings will be earning full points, having not yet reached the 14-week mark in their respective seasons. Just 34 points separate the fourth through tenth-place drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the standings with 576 points, and the fourth highest WPA at 48. Lee still has two more weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition before reaching the 14-week point in his season.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 575 points and has the fifth highest WPA at 47.92. Moore still has two more weeks to earn full points. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is sixth with 562 points, and the sixth highest WPA at 46.83. Cooper can earn full points for another two weeks.

Roger Witt of Batesville, AR is seventh with 556 points, and has the ninth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 46.33 Witt also has two more weeks to earn full points.

Joey Smith of Pomona, MO is eighth with 554 points and the tenth highest WPA at 46.17. Smith has two more weeks to earn full points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 545 points in his final week to earn full points.

Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 542 points, and has two more weeks to earn full points. There are four drivers in the second ten of the standings that are also in the Top 10 of the WPA list, including the top two drivers.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN is 12th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 532 points and has three more weeks to earn full points. Waggoner has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 48.36. Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is 14th in the standings with 531 points and has the second highest WPA at 48.27 with three more weeks to earn full points.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is 16th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 510 points, the eighth highest WPA at 46.36, and has three more weeks to earn full points. Gavin Landers of Batesville, AR is 20th in the standings with 465 points, the seventh highest WPA at 46.5, and four more weeks to earn full points.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
