CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will compete in Rounds 12 and 13 of the 2013 season this Friday night at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race, and this Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN for a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event.

Just two points separate Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, AL and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN in the battle for the $20,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship.

Hollingsworth has 818 points after four wins, five top five finishes, nine top ten finishes and three fast time honors in 11 races driving the Sparks Motorsports Special. Johnson has 816 points after one win, six top five finishes, and a series-leading ten top ten finishes in 11 races driving the NeSmith Chevrolet Special.

Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 762 points and leads the Rookie of the Year point standings. Bronson has one win, four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in 11 races driving the Brandon Ford Warrior.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL is fresh off winning the last two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series events and is fourth in the standings with 756 points driving the High Roller Race Cars Special. In 11 starts this season, J-Mac has two wins, six top five finishes, seven top ten finishes and one fast time award.

Tait Davenport of Benton, KY will be racing at his home track, Clayhill Motorsports, on Saturday night, and is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 718 points. Davenport has three top five finishes and five top ten finishes in 11 races driving the Murtco, Inc. Special. Davenport has three NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series wins this season at Clayhill Motorsports.

Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS standings with 666 points after one top five finish, 5 top ten finishes and one fast time award in 11 races driving the Bassett Hound Motorsports GRT. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is seventh in the standings with 656 points after one top five finish and four top ten finishes in 11 races driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN will be racing close to home on Friday night at Tennessee National Raceway. Gentry is eighth in the series standings with 630 points after one top five finish and three top ten finishes in 11 races driving the Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates Warrior.

Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS standings and second in the Rookie of the Year points chase with 604 points after one top five finish and four top ten finishes in 11 races driving the Yellow Hammer Construction Special. Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS is tenth in the standings and third in the Rookie points with 596 points after two top ten finishes and one fast time award in 11 races driving the Custom Spraying, Inc. GRT.

Other NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division regulars expected this weekend at Tennessee National Raceway and Clayhill Motorsports are the defending series champion Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS, Cody Martin of Christiana, TN, Marty Hardy of Biloxi, MS, and Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN.

Turner will be looking to keep his “Ironman” streak alive by competing in his 158th and 159th consecutive NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series event. Turner is the only to compete in race the series has held since its inception in 2005. Martin tuned up for Friday night’s show by taking the victory on July 13 in the Tennessee National Raceway Late Model feature.

There will also be several NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series favorites expected to give the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division drivers some tough competition this weekend.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN has six NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model wins this season at Clayhill Motorsports and is a top contender for the WRS $10,000 National Championship. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is also a Top 10 WRS drivers, and has also competed in nine Touring Division races this season.

A couple of other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Top 20 drivers that are also regulars at Clayhill Motorsports are Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY, who has a pair WRS wins this season, and T.J. Hays of Bradford, KY.

The action begins on Thursday night at Tennessee National Raceway with an open practice session from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday night, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. with racing scheduled for 8 p.m.
