CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 19 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season will feature ten races at nine different tracks in seven different states. There will be two races on Friday night and eight races on Saturday night, including double features at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 19 action will begin on Friday night with races scheduled for Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, and at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.

Double features at Whynot Motorsports Park will highlight Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 19 action. The first feature will be a make-up feature from last Saturday night that will award Week 18 points, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 19 event, the $1,000-to-win Highway 45 Challenge Race.

Also in action with Saturday night Week 19 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races will be Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

Late NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 18 results and an administrative correction from a track with their results have changed the point standings since they were posted on Sunday evening.

Noah Daspit has command of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14-week total of 691 points, nine points away from a perfect point total of 700. Daspit will try to net on a 47 in Week 19 competition, and he also has the highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 49.36.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS has climbed up to the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14-week total of 669 points. Lee gained 20 points after St. Tammany Raceway corrected an administrative error when Lee finished sixth on July 20 after climbing into Christopher Reid’s car. Lee has the fourth highest WPA at 47.78 and will be trying to net on a 41.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is third in the standings with a best 14 week total of 650 points, the ninth highest WPA at 46.43, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 626 points, has the third highest WPA at 48.15, and still has one more week to earn full points before reaching the 14-week mark of his season.

The Week 18 results from Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS came in late, but they showed that Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS picked up his sixth win of the season in the MP Trucking Trak-Star, which vaulted him up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 618 points, the fifth highest WPA at 47.54, and one more week to earn full points.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is tied with Palasini for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 618 points, and he is also tied with Palasini with the fifth highest WPA at 47.54, and Moore also has one more week to earn full points. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is seventh in the standings with a best 14-week total of 615 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 610 points, and Jordan will be trying to net on a 25. Joey Smith of Pomona, MO is ninth in the standings with 600 points, and he has one more week to earn full points.

Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 591 points, and he has one more week to earn full points. There are four drivers in the second ten of the standings that are among the Top 10 drivers on the WPA list.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN is 18th in the standings with 532 points, but he has the second highest WPA among the Top 20 driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 48.36 and he still has three more weeks to earn full points. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is 13th in the standings with 562 points, but has the seventh highest WPA at 46.83, and he has two more weeks to earn full points.

Gavin Landers of Batesville, AR is 20th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 512 points, but he has the eighth highest WPA at 46.54 and he has three more weeks to earn full points. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR is 14th in the standings with 556 points, but has the 10th highest WPA at 46.33 and two more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.

Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one. The Weekly Point Average is the average of their 14-week total, or up to the 14-week mark. A perfect point total is 700, and a perfect WPA is 50.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
