    Default Brad Penn problems?

    Walking around the track the last few weeks I've been hearing there is an issue with Brad Penn.
    A few of the 2 barrel gas car guys are saying 2 nights on their oil and it's blacker than black. An engine builder I visit with frequently said he's heard a few odd problems that he can only relate to the oil (gas engines also).

    I've ran Brad Penn for several years, along with a good portion of the guys in this area and never had a problem related to oil. Mine is still a very nice green color after several shows (I'm alcohol, dry sump).

    Just curious if you guys have heard anything about this?

    6 nights on 2 barrel wet sump. Oil still green. No problems here. ??

    6 nights on 4barrel gas, wet sump, oil is from the beginning of this year though. It was still green but not as green when it started. But far from black. Do those guys have the same engine builder? Do they run an oil temp gauge? Oil Coolers?

    Different engine builders. I don't know what kind of oil temps they are running, I do know in general the class's they are in tend to run hot or over heat, not sure if they are over heating, but you hear almost everyone coming in after the race and holding a high idle to help cool the engine down.

    Another engine builder I had said he had an odd cam failure. The peak of the lobe was chipping (solid lifter class I believe). When he called the cam guy, he had mentioned he's had some odd problems and the only thing he could put his finger on was brad penn...

    I've always had good luck with it, and a few problems other people have, and I have 0 problems (well, oil brand related), I think I'll stick with it for now and hope for the best.

    I have had issues with Brad Penn burning up roller tip rocker arms and eating distributor gears switched to Valvoline VR1 synthetic and the issues went away without changing anything other than the oil I wouldn't use Brad Penn again if it was given to me.

    When something goes wrong, it's always the oil's fault.

    In this case it was the oil when I first had problems burning the rockers I removed the restrictor to the top end and that didn't help the issue so then I spoke to Comp Cams about their Magnum Rockers and told them I was running 345 lbs open spring pressure and they said that wasn't the issue they mentioned making a baffle in the valve cover to direct the oil down to the rocker fulcrum if you run more than 65psi oil pressure I was running around 75psi so I made the baffled to better control the oil and this did not help the issue much. But when I switched to valvoline it fixed the issue so it was the quality of oil that was causing the issue.
