Lake Cumberland Speedway $4,000 to win Super Late Models/$1,000 to win Modifieds on September 14
Burnside, KY-August 25, 2013- Lake Cumberland Speedway track promoter Brandon Hardgrove will let the stock cars be idle the next couple of weeks in preparation for his next big event on Saturday September 14 at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval located just a few minutes south of Somerset, KY as Super Late Models will race for $4,000 to win, Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win, Sportsman will race for $800 to win, and Four Cylinders will race for $200 to win.
Of note, the double features for the Modified and Sportsman divisions were rained out on August 17 have been set to run on Saturday September 14 as well at the beginning of the race program. There will be no stock car racing at the track on August 31 or September 7, but there will be demolition derbies at the track on both those evenings. The demo derby on August 31 will be for small cars and pay $1,200 to win, while the derby on September 7 will be for big cars and pay $1,800 to win.
The Saturday September 14 racing program at Lake Cumberland Speedway will include a full program of racing action, featuring Super Late Models in competition in a $4,000 to win main event that will pay $300 to start, while Modifieds will also be on the racing docket as well, racing for $1,000 to win and $100 to start. Also on the racing card on Saturday September 14 will be the Sportsman division (Ponderosa Speedway rules) paying $800 to win and Four Cylinders will race for $200 to win.
Activities for the Saturday September 14 racing event will see the pit area and general admission areas open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., while practice laps will begin at 7:30 p.m. Time trials will take place beginning at 8:00 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices for the Saturday September 14 event in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, while a pit pass will be $35.
Lake Cumberland Speedway last raced on Saturday August 24 and feature event winners that evening included Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY in Super Late Models, Tommy Gregory of Monticello, KY in Modifieds, and Doyle Hibbard in Sportsman.
Lake Cumberland Speedway is located at 1 Racetrack Road, just outside of Burnside, KY, just past the entrance to General Burnside Island State Park. Brandon Hardgrove is the track promoter and presents dirt track racing entertainment on Saturday evenings. The track is located on Racetrack Road off of US Hwy. 127 South, only about five miles south of Somerset, KY.
