    SAS Racing Series King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania at Smoky Mountain September 21

    Fayetteville, TN- September 12, 2013- Late Model Mania will be the phrase of the weekend! The Southern All Star Racing Series marches on with its busy month of September as the tour visits Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN for the 3rd Annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania on Saturday September 21, with the A-Main contest being 40 laps in distance and paying $5,000 to the winner. It will mark the third visit for the Southern All Star Racing Series to the 4/10 mile high-banked red clay oval better known as “The Mountain” during the 2013 racing season.

    The 3rd Annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model ManiaSouthern All Star Racing Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday September 21 will feature a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 40 lap, $5,000 to win King of the Mountain A-Main. Support divisions set to join the Southern All Star Racing Series in action at Smoky Mountain Speedway for the 3rd Annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania will include the track’s Limited Late Models ($1,500 to win), Crate Late Models ($1,000 to win), and Street Stocks ($300 to win).

    The visit by the Southern All Star Racing Series to Smoky Mountian Speedway will mark the tour’s third visit of 2013 to the famous East Tennessee speedplant that has been racing for better than 40 years, famous for having hosted NASCAR Grand National events with names such as Allison, Petty, Lund, Pearson, Baker, Waltrip, and Bonnett among others in competition. The tour has made 18 previous visits to Smoky Mountain Speedway, with twelve different drivers visiting victory lane. Randy Weaver has the most SAS Racing Series wins at the track with four, while Vic Hill, Billy Ogle, Jr., and Chris Madden are the only other repeat winners in SAS action at “The Mountain” with two wins each. Billy Ogle, Jr. is the defending champion of this event and Jonathan Davenport was victorious in the tour’s first visit of the year back on March 23, while Chris Madden won in the tour’s latest visit to the track this season back on June 15.

    Among those expected from the Southern All Star Racing Series stable of drivers include series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, and Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, along with a strong array of talented local and regional racing stars such as Chad Ogle of Sevierville, TN, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN, Brian Hendrix of Knoxville, TN, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN, Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN, Bobby Giffin of Maryville, TN, Dusty Carver of Englewood, TN, Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN, Ellery Leake of Knoxville, TN, Michael Asberry of Crossville, TN, Josh Henry of Newport, TN, David Crabtree of Maryville, TN, Sammie Russell of Maryville, TN, Brett Miller of Greeneville, TN, plus many more are expected. The tour has presented seventeen events so far in 2013 and has seen eleven different drivers visit victory with the series this season.

    Activities for the Southern All Star Racing Series 3rd Annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania event at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday September 21 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area and tier parking area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m, with practice set to start at 7:20 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing. All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time. Ticket prices for the King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania at Smoky Mountain Speedway in the general admission area will be $20 for adults (children ages 6 to 11 $5, and children ages 5 and under free), $25 for adults in tier parking (children ages 6 to 11 $10, and children ages 5 and under free), while a pit pass will be $35.

    The entry fee for the Saturday September 21 3rd Annual King of the Mountain Fall Classic Late Model Mania at Smoky Mountain Speedway is $100 and can be made payable to the Southern All Star Racing Series. The tire rule is exclusively Hoosier Tires and the only compounds eligible to be used are the Hoosier 1350, 1450, and 1600 compounds.
