    Default New tire rule.........

Got new tire rules, was running DOT 70 series tires, now they are allowing Hoosier D,A, or H tires.

What does the D, A, and H mean?

Also, am I going to have to change around my wheel offsets on each corner of my car now or leave it the same as I had?

Unsure of what kind of changes I can expect to have to make to my car now moving to this kind of a tire vs. the DOT's I had last year........ I'm guessing I'm going to push like a mother****er

Do you run different componds on different corners of the car?

They are pretty crappy tires. On a dry slick track I run all three compounds at once, and that is not counting the left front.

To the OP, once you get any A's or H's, before you run them, sipe the heck out of them, pretty much make a checkerboard pattern on the tire with the siper, and then grind the tires. The D compound is too soft to sipe or grind really, and they wear out fast, maybe get 10 quality races out of one. And no matter what, never use an A on the RR, they suck. Use an H instead.

Disagree..........I ran A's all the way around.......and won aces! H's take a bit to fire and are good for very slick tracks and longer races. D's are junk!

Only by you and that's an exception to the rest......let the rest stay on H's and they will get smoked!

Todd - On a wet track like Lincoln, an A would be fine since the tire will not get much heat in it, but on a track that gets dry or slick, they are junk. After a few good heat cycles, the plastic that Hoosier puts in the A compounds starts to degrade and the tire either wears out a lot faster, or doesn't fire like it should. I remember you saying you won at Charleston on a brand new A, and that makes sense because it was a fresh tire and the plastic in it was still together. Two more full nights on that tire at Charleston or any other slick track you would have issues with it. I would run an A on my RF all day, but never on my RR, and I rarely use them on my LR, I have had D's last longer on the LR on all the cars I have driven in the past 4 years.

Again......I did not have the problems with tires you had. I had many nights on A's. It has something to do with tire prep, chassis set-up and driver style. My style was not squaling the tires in the middle of the turn hence not abusive to them! I did not run a one H this year and went to 6 different tracks. I bought 8 new tires the whole year running 24 nights in total...of the 8, 3 were destroyed from carnage on the track.

Hey Jeff, we could get that many nights out of ours if people didn't buy new tires every 2 nights. LOL

Started year out with last years tires and that was a mistake, faded like a cheap azz as I should...LOL! ! The LF was a 2 year old tire, never changed it........RF got 1 new tire and the rest of the new tires were 4 RR and 3 LR. Put a new RR on for Ctown and Jville special, finished 1st and 4th. Tire mangement at it's best!
