Bret Holmes 2013 Cruise With The Champions/Dirt On Dirt Rookie Of The Year in Southern All Stars

FAYETTEVILLE, TN— The 2013 Cruise with the Champions/Dirt On Dirt Rookie of the Year in the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Bret Holmes of Munford, AL., had not seen many of the tracks that the 31 year old series raced at, but knew it was going to be learning process as he battled through many adversities and many up and downs that can be associated with touring racing and that it was his goal to win the title and that he did as he had to battle with Knoxville, TN., driver Mark Rosner and Oxford, AL., Jason Hiett to secure the championship.
Holmes in his Holmes Construction/Barry Wright chassis scored 5 top 10 finishes this season with the highest finish 6th coming at the Crimson 50 held at Green Valley Speedway. Holmes did not have it easy as he was put behind early in the season when he missed the race at Cleveland, this put him behind Rosner and Hiett, as he missed the race he fell back to third in the rookie standings, but he continued on and then worked his way to the point with 6 races left in the season to take command of the points.

Holmes’ 2014 plans carry him into several different avenues of racing as he will be back to compete in several Southern All Star events, as well as selected Lucas/WOO and NDRL events and he biggest concentrated effort will be his movement war pavement racing as he has run in selected Pro Late Model events in 2013 on pavement and plans to look more into the involvement of asphalt racing.

Holmes will be honored along with the other drivers in the top-ten in Championship points will be honored on Saturday Night December 21st at the Bearden Banquet Hall in Knoxville, TN during the annual Awards Banquet at 7:30 pm.
