For Immediate Release!

Attention Drivers, Race Fans, Friends, and Supporters of Vermilion County Speedway:

As the 2013 race season finally reaches its end, and we reflect on the experiences and memories we have taken from it, please pause for a brief moment to remember the good people in our racing community that have taken life’s final checkered flag.
The staff at VCS was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of long time track supporter Mr. Kim Henderson of Danville, IL. Kim had been actively involved in improving and maintaining the speedway for many years. Much of what you see today, as far as improvements to the facility go, are thanks in part to the countless hours of his volunteer efforts. He was a very dear friend to the speedway and the racing community. He will be dearly missed.
Although many of us are still with heavy heart from the passing of our friend, our thoughts have turned to the future and how we can pay tribute to a man that gave so much to the racing community.
On behalf of the Vermilion County Speedway, MMP Promotions would like to
announce the running of the “Kim Henderson Memorial”
scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2014. This race will run in conjunction with 2 other area tracks and will feature the highly popular Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series modifieds. The event will pay a minimum of $3000.00 to win, but with sponsorship in the works, could pay as
much as $5000 to win.
VCS promoters Brad Key and Bryan Clendenen, are elated by the opportunity
to have one the biggest modified races in the Midwest.
“It’s bittersweet for us. We have lost a racing brother, but now we have a way to pay tribute to a great man. We are just thrilled to have this opportunity
to work with the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series. They
have a great organization that will bring many of the best modified racers in the
country to VCS. We know Kim will be watching over us, so we will
do everything we can to pay tribute to him and make this one of the best modified events of the year.”
Support classes will be announced at a later date, and more information will be
posted on the VCS web site (THEvermilioncountyspeedway.com) as well as VCS
FaceBook and Twitter pages as it becomes available. Please share this release as you please.
