Cool Advantage of Nova vs. Metric lowers

New to mod racing. I have a MRS chassis with a metric clip. What is the advantage to running Nova lowers compared to Metric? If I change to Nova lowers, what do I have to do (Chang mounts?) What spindles do you run with Nova lowers? Thanks 4 the help.

Trackwidth and the mounts are the same most either design their front end around the GM 1 or 2 spindle depending on clip or the pinto its all a package deal.

If I understand right, I can run the Nova lowers with no chassis mods and still run the metric spindle. Please forgive my ignorance as I'm new to this class.

After doing some searching, I think I'm going to stick with metric for now as this doesn't look like a simple swap. It looks like you have to move the spring buckets and upper arm mounts to start with. This is my first year so I'll keep it simple. Thanx

Correct. For fitment but geometry wise it could change some things like camber curves and roll centers. Its best to work with builder on these things.

with the nova lower you have to use spacers between the bushing and the frame . its no big deal. some other differences would be the nova lower is 1.25" longer than the metric lower (wider stance on front ) and the nova lower accepts a 5" coil spring (less weight) while the metric takes a 5.5" coil. I d use the nova lowers,

The Nova lowers are 1 1/4" longer , but they add 5/8" to the width on each side, because some of their length is going forward which lengthens the wheel base about 1 5/8". The upper balljoints have to move out 5/8" and forward 1 5/8" to keep the caster and camber settings. The tierods have to be worked with to get the bumpsteer right. The increased front to rear tie rod angles caused by moving the spindles forward will add more ackerman ( toe out when you turn the wheels). The upper shock mounts will more than likely have to be moved also. The main advantage you will get with the nova lowers, is when you are sideways, you will have more backsteer before the tire hits the frame, and you will have more shock clearance with the upper balljoint. The spring rates will need to be softened 150 to 200 pounds, because of the different motion ratio of the a arms. ( assuming you had the right front springs to begin with)

is the car a mrs from Minnesota. if it is we just did that conversion this past season. best thing we ever did. 3 feature wins after coming off of a 3 year drought.
