Found a nice one from a '93 cheap in local boneyard, are they any good for racing or should I pass on it? Any info appreciated.

Better than a cast iron manifold. I run one.

I have heard they are good for tracks that require a stock manifold.

The cast iron tri y headers flows better than any other factory manifold including the Ranger. The Ranger manifold was never designed to be a header. It has lots of bumps and other flow restricting problems. Just look into it and you will see. It's only advantage is it is lighter than the tri y.
