    Default Oil level with cooler

    Wet sump modified engine
7 qt pan + 1 in the filter

Where should oil level be with deck mounted oil cooler? Level at the inspection plug while running?

What is the capacity of the cooler and lines? Figure that in to your pan & filter amount and add that much oil. I guess if your cooler is not draining back then the usual way of checking at the pan would work.

Warm the engine up some before checking oil level with engine idling. Should be level with plug.

Yup, I use a dipstick to check but I did this to get the "correct control level." After the oil settled from drainback and cooled I checked the level again and made a hash mark on the stick. I now use this as my full level when I check and top off if needed when engine is cold.

Does anyone use a check valve or anti-drain back oil filter to check cold?
