CARTERSVILLE, GA – Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS used a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to take command of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies point standings after the first five weeks of competition.

Leftwich has 227 points after three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division races driving the STR Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Leftwich now has an 11-point lead in the standings over David Windham of Florala, AL.

Windham has collected 216 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five races. Windham finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, but still earned 41 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National points driving the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet.

Mike Lane of Pace, FL drove the Lane’s Vinyl Siding Chevrolet to his third 40-point win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. That moved Lane up to the third spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 214 points after three 40-point wins, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes.

Clint Vaughn of Odenville, AL finished second on Saturday night in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division feature race at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Vinson Race Engines Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. That put Vaughn in the fourth spot of the standings with 213 points after five top five finishes in five races.

Scooter Ware of West Point, MS began NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 5 action tied with Leftwich for the point lead, but broke an axle on his Peay’s Auto Salvage Chevrolet before the main event on Saturday night Whynot Motorsports Park. Ware still earned 25 points, but it dropped him to fifth in the standings with 205 points after one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in six races.

Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS is probably the hottest driver in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division, as he won his third race of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Ergon, Inc. Chevrolet. Whittington is sixth in the standings with 194 points after three wins, and one seventh-place finish in four races.

Scotty Vowell of Philadelphia, MS is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 190 points after three top ten finishes in six races driving the Scotty’s Recycling and Salvage Chevrolet. Vowell finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, but still earned 41 points.

Another driver to watch during the 2014 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division season is Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS. Idom drove the Performance Bodies “Throwback” 1957 Chevrolet to a pair of victories in Week 5 action to bring his win total for the season to three. Idom is eighth in the standings with 188 points.

The first win of the weekend for Idom came on Friday night with a 50-point victory at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Idom followed that up the next evening with a 40-point win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. For the season, Idom has three wins and five top five finishes in six races.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 185 points after one win and four top five finishes in four races. On Saturday night, Harris drove the Coastal Engine and Machine Chevrolet to a third-place showing at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

Phillip Haynes of Anniston, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 183 points after three top five finishes in five races driving the Jeff Owens & Associates Chevrolet. Haynes finished fourth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 5 action, Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL drove the NSC Heating and Air Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to his third win of the season at Talladega Short Track. Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL drove the Shaw Racing Chevrolet to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway.

A total of 142 drivers have earned points in the first five weeks of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competition.
