Atomic Speedway May 17, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Stinson Stops Sprints/Johnson Jaunts to Modified Win!
Crace and Boyd Claim Feature Wins!

    By Scott Wolfe

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- One of the most competitive nights of racing in the history of Atomic Speedway concluded with a near photo finish
as Bob Crace, Jr. won a heated battle on a last lap pass of Harley Martin to claim the C & M Racing Equipment Sport Mod main. Six of
the night's eight heat races went down to the wire, setting the stage for a quartet of barn-burning finishes in the fourth feature
events. Even the kids put on a great show in the bicycle races and the festive Kid' Night activities.
Vandalia, Ohio's Jimmy Stinson, aboard the Jamie Miller-owned 6s, claimed the biggest win of the night by outdistancing early
leader Ryan Broughton in the Pine Tree Towing and Recovery 410 Sprint Car main. Kenny "Worth the Price of Admission" Johnson lived up

to his namesake by holding off the challenges of K-C Burdette for a photo finish in the Advanced Services AMRA Octane Modified 20-lap
main and Dean Boyd pulled off his fourth win of the year in the Street Stock main after a torrid race-long battle with Adam Jones.
Twenty-eight of the finest sprint cars in the Midwest sorted through three qualifying heat races, and an eye-opening b-main to

set the line-up for an exciting A-main. The trace was tacky, fast, and racy throughout the night with multi-groove passing from start
    to finish.
Ryan Broughton got the jump on Danny Smith at the start of the event and withstood the challenges of a stacked-field for the
first 17 laps. In the early stages of the race, heat winner Ronnie Blair jumped the cushion was shuffled out of the top ten as was
youngster Kory Crabtree. On lap four Smith suffered a similar fate and was shuffled back to fourth behind Broughton, Stinson, and
    Mitchell Harble.
Two laps later Smith again jumped the cushion and sailed off the turn two embankment. That set the stage for one of many
spectacular drives up through the pack. Ryan Myers suffered a flat tire in the heat race after anchoring a transfer spot. The flat
delegated him a spot in the b-main where he started 11th and blasted to fourth. That in turn pitted Myers in a 19th place starting
spot that set the stage for a hard-charging 19th to fourth place run that earned the Lewisburg, Ohio driver the Hummel's Factory Kahne

    Hard-charger award.
Meanwhile, Broughton continued to be the cream of the crop as the race leader. Mitchell Harble anchored a strong top three,
the entire race while Aaron Higgins and Wes McGlumphy contended for a top five most of the race. Only late race charges from Myers
and Smith would shield these drivers from top five runs. On the 17th circuit, Jordan Harble spun with the leaders taking evasive
    action.
Stinson in the Claxton Mopar/Kahne Maxim #6 drove hard into turn one and alongside Broughton. Side-by-side the two dueled
into three where Stinson put the decisive slide job on the 22 car and sailed on to victory. Myers blasted into the top five and on the

last lap Smith did the same with a barnstorming run past Higgins. Crabtree recovered to recover a top ten after his early bout with
    the cushion.
Rounding out the top ten were Stinson, Ryan Broughton, Mitchell Harble, Ryan Myers, Danny Smith, Aaron Higgins, Wes McGlumphy,

Kory Crabtree, Todd Kane, and Mark Imler. The win was a clean sweep for Stinson who set fast time with an 11:491 and won the first
    heat.
"We had a great car and a great race track tonight," said Stinson. "It was fast everywhere, a little choppy and bumpy for all
of us in places, but an exciting track to race on. I'd like to thank my owner Jamie Miller for doing it all to get us here to victory

lane and thanks to the fans for braving the weather and staying here for the finish. That had to be a great race to watch."
Kenny Johnson, Mineral Wells, WV--the five time AMRA champion-- is usually the man to watch coming off the tail. Johnson was
equally spectacular in starting on the pole, only to have to survive the challenges of Parkersburg, WV driver K-C Burdette. Burdette
had won the first heat in a last-to-first place run, then determined his own fate in the feature with a spin on lap six that sent him
    to the tail.
Johnson meanwhile had to fend off Dave Fireball Pinkerton, who along with Matt Holcomb and Doug Adkins made it an exciting
four-way race. Pinkerton at one time shuffled back to fourth, but recovered nicely to regain second. Matt Holcomb had a great run
going much of the night. Doug Adkins moved into second, then fell off the pace and back to sixth before charging back to fourth at
    the finish.
Jimmy Lennex at one point seemed to be out of the chase, but came on strong at the finish, while Dave McWilliams, Eric
Arledge, and Bob Crace, Jr. each ran consistently well.
Johnson appeared to soar into another county in the early going, but had his lead decimated by a pair of cautions, one of
which was by Burdette on lap six. Burdette charged from the tail of the 21-car starting field and into third on the 16th circuit, then

second a lap later. That set up a firestorm of a finish as Burdette twice bore past Johnson only to have Johnson dive low in one to
half Burdette's final challenge. Burdette gave it another try blitzing alongside Johnson at the finish with Johnson winning by a
    nose-plate.
Johnson said, "I love this track and I love these fans. I felt kind of defeated coming here tonight as we have fought engine

problems for a week. It didn't run right last night, it didn't run right in the heat, and it didn't run right in the feature, but we

had enough to get to victory lane. K-C beat me last night and I was second, so it felt good to be on top tonight."
Rounding out the top ten were Johnson, Burdette, Dave Fireball Pinkerton, Matt Holcomb, Doug Adkins, Jimmy Lennex, Dave

McWilliams, Eric Arledge, and Bob Crace, Jr.
In the daring Atomic Speedway Street Stock main, Adam Jones led the early going with Dean Boyd and Tommy Mossbarger filing in

rank-and-file. Boyd took over on lap five and never looked back despite constant challenges from Jones. Mossbarger and Jamie Adams

put on a great show for third . Boyd sailed on to his fourth win in six starts.
Rounding out the top ten were Dean Boyd, Feature: Dean Boyd, Jamie Adams, Adam Jones, Tim Cutler, Brandon Thompson, Justin

Poling, Dave Landman, Larry Highland, Tommy Mossbarger, and Jeremy Conley.
The final race went right down to the wire, capping off a great evening of dirt track racing that ended well at 10:37 p.m.
John Remy was the early leader, before giving way to young Harley Martin. Bob Crace, Jr. came into the mix at third, then

advanced to second when Remy spun into the turn four infield wall.
Crace flat-footed his #23 mount alongside Martin on many occasions, but each time he 16-year-old prevailed. Crace made two

bids in the last two laps, the drove it in hard on the white flag lap pulling alongside Martin out of turn two. The two dueled to the

checkered where Crace won by less than two feet. Rounding out the top ten were Bob Crace, Jr., Harley Martin, Jay Helton, Mike Brust,

John Remy, Ricky Neace, Steve Cruse, Brandon Allen, and Brad McCown.
