Chase Junghans Has Strong WoO Weekend; Jackpot 100 Next

Manhattan, Kansas (05/20/14) - Chase Junghans enjoyed a pair of successful outings over the weekend on the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model trail in his #18 Shop Quik Racing/Capital/Jay D ickens Racing Engine entry.

A scheduled triple header weekend with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series opened on Friday night at 201 Speedway (Sitka, Kentucky). Thirty-nine Super Late Models entered the $10,000-to-win event at the 1/3 mile oval, and Chase started his night by qualifying second fastest in his group before winning the first WoO heat race of his career, which sent him to the redraw for the feature. In the 50 lap finale Junghans received the second starting spot and was joined on the front row by Tim McCreadie. As the race went green Junghans grabbed the lead, and held the top spot until lap 26, when McCreadie shot past for the lead. Junghans would slip a couple more spots in the feature as he began to battle the handle, but still crossed the finish line in the fourth position behind race winner, McCreadie, Darrell Lanigan, and Rod Conley for the best WoO finish of his career. He also earned Rookie of the Race honors.

Saturday night's event would unfortunately fall victim to Mother Nature at Smoky Mountain Speedway, so Chase returned to action on Sunday evening at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee). With thirty-three entries in the pits Junghans again enjoyed a great qualifying effort to earn a front row starting spot for his heat race. He capitalized by grabbing the lead at the drop of the green flag and would lead until turn one of the white flag lap when bad luck struck as Clint Smith made slight contact causing Junghans to spin. He rejoined the tail of the field and rebounded to a sixth place finish, which left him short of transferring to the feature as he was forced to a b-main. A second place finish in his b-main earned Chase the twentieth starting spot for the finale. He would advance eight spots on his way to a twelfth place finish in the 50 lap affair and would receive Rookie of the Race honors for his efforts.

"I would've loved to have gotten the win at 201, but to win our heat and lead 25 laps in the feature was a big shot in the arm to our program," commented Junghans. "We had a real good car at Duck River, and I think we could've been a contender there too if not for the unfortunate incident on the last lap of the heat. I guess that's just part of it, and we'll try to make some noise at Tyler County this weekend."

Chase is now second in the latest Rookie of the Year standings and tenth in the overall points. Complete results from the weekend can be found at www.WoOLMS.com .

The Memorial Day weekend, May 24th-25th, the team will travel to Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) for the annual Jackpot 100. A practice session will be held on Friday night, and Saturday's program will be held by time trials and heat race action. On Sunday evening last chance showdowns and the $20,000-to-win, 75 lap win finale. For more information please visit www.WoOLMS.com .
