    Ponderosa Speedway Presents 14th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial on Friday August 1

    Junction City, KY-July 22, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff are pleased to announce the rescheduled date for the 14th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial for Friday August 1. The Super Late Models will race for $3,000 to win, Modifieds will race for $1,500 to win, Pro Late Models will race for $600 to win, and Sportsman will race for $600 to win at the 3/8th mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.

    The Friday August 1 racing program will be the 14th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event and will feature a full program of racing competition in all divisions, with Super Late Models racing 35 laps for $2,500 to win/$200 to start, along with Modifieds racing for $1,500 to win/$150 to start in their 25 lap feature contest. Also on the Friday August 1 racing docket will be Pro Late Models racing in a 20 lap feature contest for $600 to win/$100 to start (if there are 18 or more entries, the race will pay $1,000 to win) and Sportsman racing for $600 to win/$75 to start in a 20 lap feature event. RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration, with all drivers needing to be signed at the time of the drivers meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m.

    The entry fee for all divisions at the 14th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event will be as follows: Super Late Models- $50; Modifieds- $30; Pro Late Models- $25; Sportsman- $20.

    Super Late Models (35 laps): 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,200, 3rd- $700, 4th- $500, 5th- $400, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th through 18th- $200 to start
    Modifieds (25 laps): 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $700, 3rd- $350, 4th- $250, 5th- $225, 6th- $200, 7th- $190, 8th- $175, 9th- $160, 10th through 18th- $150 to start..
    Pro Late Models (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $250, 4th- $200, 5th- $150, 6th- $125, 7th through 18th- $100 to start (if there are 18 or more entries, the division will pay $1,000 to win).
    Sportsman (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $200, 4th- $150, 5th- $125, 6th- $100, 7th- $95, 8th- $90, 9th- $85, 10th through 18th- $75 to start.

    Activities for the 14th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial on Friday August 1 will see the general admission area and pit area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:20 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:45 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices on Friday August 1 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under admitted FREE with a paid adult, while a pit pass will be $35.

    The “Junebug” was added to the Ponderosa Speedway track schedule for the first time in 1999 and Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN was the inaugural event winner. Jay Mobley of Harrodsburg, KY would score the race win in 2000, while Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would win the event in 2001. The race was not contested in 2002, but returned in 2003, with Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN winning the event and following that win up with another victory in the race in 2004. Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would take the event victory in 2005, while Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY would score the race win in 2006. Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY would take his turn in victory lane in the 2007 event, with Victor Lee of Danville, KY scoring back-to-back victories in the race in 2008 and 2009. Mike Marlar would pick up his third win in the event in 2010, while Dustin Linville of Lancaster, KY would win the race in 2011. Dustin Neat would score his second win in the race in 2012 and is the defending race winner, as the event was not contested in 2013.

    Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday June 27 and feature event winners that evening included Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Super Late Models and Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY in Pro Late Models, while the Modified and Sportsman feature events were rained out and will be contested as part of the July 25 racing program.

    Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Jerry Denson is the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment from April through mid-October of the 2014 race season.     Just a friendly mid-week reminder! Also, the Pro Late Model division will be $600 to win and $125 to start now (if the Pro Late Model division has 18 or more entries, it will pay $1,000 to win). If the Sportsman division has 24 or more entries, it will also pay $1,000 to win!
