CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies point leader Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS was able to net one point in Week 22 competition by driving the Performance Bodies “Throwback” 1957 Chevrolet to a third-place finish on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

That gives Idom a best 14 week total of 694 points and six points away from a “Perfect Season” of 700 points. There are five weeks left in the 2014 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division season with one double feature event on the schedule this week at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL that makes for six more opportunities to earn weekly points.

Idom will now be trying to net on two 48s and two 49s to bring his season total to 700 points. There are three other competitors with a mathematical chance to beat Idom for the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Championship, and they are the defending NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Champion Trey Bright of Coker, AL, Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS and Larry Faulk of Pace, FL.

Bright finished fifth on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in his final week to earn full points in the Eaton Clinic Chevrolet powered by a $3,295 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine and now has 675 points. That moved Bright up to the second spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings.

In the five remaining weeks of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division season, Bright will try to net on a 44, two 45s, a 46, and a 48. Five straight wins gives Bright a total of 697 points. The double feature event at Southern Raceway doesn’t come into play for Bright, as the first feature is a Week 7 Make-Up Race, and Bright already has a 50-point win in that week.

David Windham of Florala, AL finished seventh on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet, but he needed a top five finish to stay in the title hunt. Windham finished second on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, but they only had a seven car field and Windham earned only 39 points. Windham is currently third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 667.

Whittington finished sixth on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in his final week to earn full points in the Ergon, Inc. Chevrolet, and moved up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 666 points. Whittington will now try to win five straight races to net on a 41, a 44, and three 45s that would bring his season total to 696 points. Whittington also has a Week 7 win, taking the double feature out of play for him.

The correction of a computer programming error moved Faulk up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 663 points. Previous totals only gave Faulk credit for 12 weeks of racing, as two DQs with zero points earlier in the season counted those weeks when they shouldn’t have. NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division officials gave two weeks of points back to Faulk that increased his point total to the correct amount.

Faulk drove the L&H Construction Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to his fifth win of the 2014 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway. That keeps Faulk in title contention, as he will try to capture six straight wins and net on two 42s, two 44s, a 46, and a 48 that would bring his season total to 697 points.

Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is sixth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 657 points. Leftwich finished outside the Top 10 on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the STR Racing Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine and did not net any points in Week 22 competition.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 647 points. Harris also finished outside the Top 10 on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, but collected 41 points to net three points driving the Coastal Engine and Machine Chevrolet.

Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 631 points. Shaw finished sixth in a seven-car field on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway and did not net any points in Week 22 competition. Mike Lane of Pace, FL is ninth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 627 points.

Doug Lea of Milton, FL rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 626 points. Lea drove the L&L Construction Services Chevrolet to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway and was able to net 14 points.

In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 22 action, cars powered by the $3,295 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine swept Week 22 competition by being under the hood of all six winning race cars. Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL won the first of two $1,000-to-win races on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Got Mud Motorsports Chevrolet.

The NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point leader’s father Ricky “The Hippy” Idom of Hattiesburg, MS showed the kid he still has the winning touch, as he drove the B&B Racing Chevrolet to victory in the second $1,000-to-win race on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Calvin Cook of Pace, FL more than paid for his Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine under the hood of the Reed Metals Chevrolet in one night, as he pocketed over $4,500 by winning the 2nd Annual Southern Street Stock National on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, a non-points race co-sanctioned by the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division and the Mississippi Street Stock Series.

Stuart Wilson of Milton, FL was the winner on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in the Wilson Lumber Chevrolet, and Clint Vaughn of Odenville, AL took his third win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Vaughn Racing Chevrolet.
