Iron Motorsports Heads to Eldora for Baltes Classic Following WOOLMS Double Dip

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) After a month away from the racetrack, Jeep Van Wormer and the Iron Motorsports team tackled a pair of $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdowns in their home state of Michigan over the August 22-23 weekend. Things kicked off on Friday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Jeep timed in fifth quickest in Group B during qualifying, but later slipped back to fifth in his stacked heat race. Following a triumph in his B-Main, Jeep started the 50-lap headliner from the outside of the ninth row. The Pinconning, Michigan ace then climbed up inside of the top ten before a lap 36 spin and he eventually wound up eleventh in the final rundown.

On Saturday evening, another $10,000 top prize was on the line at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan. Jeep knocked down the third fastest lap in Group B during time trials prior to finishing second in heat race action. After drawing the sixth starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 50-lapper, Jeep slipped back to a thirteenth place performance in part due to being involved in a racing incident. Complete results from the Michigan doubleheader can be accessed online at www.woolms.com.

The #55 team has one single event circled on their upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend calendar, as they are slated to invade the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday, August 31. The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will preside over the annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic’ on Sunday at the “Big E.” A $3,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs in the final tune-up race prior to the rapidly approaching ‘World 100.’ Additional information can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.eldoraspeedway.com.

With the uncertainty of Sunday’s weather and the quick turnaround for the ‘World 100,’ the Iron Motorsports team made the decision this afternoon to change their schedule plans and will now forego the $3,000 to win ‘Baltes Classic’ at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on August 31. Instead, they will now put all of their efforts into preparing their Rocket machines for the 44th edition of the ‘World 100’ at Eldora on September 4-6. On Thursday and Friday, a pair of 25-lap preliminary feature events will take place both nights, each of which will pay $5,000 to the winner.

When Saturday rolls around at the “Big E,” the stakes will be much higher, as six heat races and consolation events will set the stage for the 100-lap grind. The winner of the 44th Annual ‘World 100’ will not only receive the hefty $47,000 payday, but also the famed globe trophy. Jeep Van Wormer has transferred into the most prestigious main event in our industry eight times during his career and has placed as high as third twice back in 2006 and 2008. You can learn much more about the upcoming ‘World 100’ week by pointing your web browser to www.eldoraspeedway.com.
