Default NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 Preview

CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are many questions to answer with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 competition. Will point leader Chris Holley of Dayton, TX win his 14th race and accumulate 700 for a perfect season and the $10,000 National Championship? Will Mike Palasini Jr. win his tenth race of the season and stay alive in the title hunt?

No matter the outcome of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 competition, there is still a lot to be decided besides the $10,000 National Championship in the remaining five weeks of the season. There are still nine other Points Fund-paying positions up for grabs and a seat at the banquet table in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

There are four other drivers that still have a mathematical chance of the winning the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship, but even with the title aside, they are still well on the Road To Dawsonville.

A Week 23 win by Holley could eliminate Ryan King of Seymour, TN, Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS, the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, and Heath Minor of Ralph, AL from NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series championship contention. But they are still close enough in points to contend for the second spot.

If Holley wins a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 race, or a make-up feature, Palasini has to finish second or better in a race to stay in championship contention. Palasini would have to win out in all opportunities available to him to tie Holley at 700 points and 14 wins. The tie-breaker would then go to total second-place finishes between the two drivers.

A make-up feature win and a Week 23 win for Holley this weekend would give him 15 wins for the season. That means Palasini would have to win this week and win out for the remainder of the season to tie Holley in points and wins. Looking ahead to Week 24, a 16th win for Holley clinches the title.

But the disclaimer to all of the above scenarios: Mother Nature and the addition of Double Feature races changes everything and could put some drivers back into championship contention until the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season comes to an official end on September 28.

So that’s how it could all play out, and here’s where it will all play out this weekend, Week 23 of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. There are 12 races on the Week 23 schedule of events that include three make-up races.
