    Ponderosa Speedway’s 3rd Annual Red Clay Bash $3,000 to win on SATURDAY September 27

    Junction City, KY-September 7, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff will be off the next few weekends in preparation for the 3rd Annual Red Clay Bash on SATURDAY September 27 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.

    The event will feature Super Late Model, Modified, Pro Late Model, Sportsman, and Pure Street divisions in action for this event. As an added during intermission, there will be Power Wheels races for the children and there will also be Spectator Drags, making it a must see event for racers and fans of all ages.

    The 3rd Annual Red Clay Bash will be contested at Ponderosa Speedway on SATURDAY September 27 and will feature Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win in their main event. The Modified division will also be in action as well, racing for $1,000 to win. Joining the Super Late Model and Modified divisions on Saturday September 27 will be the Pro Late Models, racing for $600 to win, and Sportsman, racing for $400 to win. Also, Pure Streets have been added to the card for Saturday September 27 as well and will race for $200 to win, but there must be at least six entries or those drivers will have to race with the Sportsman. RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration, with all drivers needing to be signed at the time for the drivers meeting that evening at 6:30 p.m.

    The Super Late Model division will have a $50 entry for this event. There will be no entry fee for the Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman divisions for this event.

    3rd Annual Red Clay Bash A-Main Payouts for SATURDAY September 27, 2014:
    Super Late Models (35 laps): 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,200, 3rd- $700, 4th- $500, 5th- $400, 6th- $350, 7th- $325, 8th- $300, 9th- $275, 10th through 20th- $250 to start.
    Modifieds (25 laps): 1st- $1,000, 2nd- $500, 3rd- $400, 4th- $375, 5th- $350, 6th- $250, 7th- $200, 8th- $175, 9th- $150, 10th through 18th- $125 to start.
    Pro Late Models (20 laps): 1st- $600, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $250, 4th- $200, 5th- $150, 6th- $125, 7th through 18th- $100 to start.
    Sportsman (15 laps): 1st- $400, 2nd- $200, 3rd- $150, 4th- $125, 5th- $100, 6th- $90, 7th- $80, 8th- $70, 9th- $60, 10th- $55, 11th through 18th- $50 to start.

    Activities for the 3rd Annual Red Clay Bash on SATURDAY September 27 will see the general admission area and pit area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:45 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:15 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the SATURDAY September 27 event in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35.

    Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday August 22 and feature event winners that evening included Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN in Super Late Models, Ryan Thomas of Gosport, IN in Modifieds, Tyler Allen of Indianapolis, IN in Pro Late Models, and Russ Gabbert of Berea, KY in Sportsman.

    Track championship point leader heading into the SATURDAY September 27 event are Dion Benningfield of Lebanon, KY in Super Late Models, Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Pro Late Models, Ryan Thomas of Gosport, IN in Modifieds, and Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY in Sportsman.

    Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.     Red Clay Bash Fast Facts

    -The Red Clay Bash first appeared on the Ponderosa Speedway schedule in the 2012 season on the Memorial Day holiday weekend and Mike Jewell would lead the first 27 laps of the event before Victor Lee of Danville, KY would overtake Jewell and lead the final eight circuits to take the victory in the Super Late Model portion of the event. Todd Coffman would get by Jewell in the final laps to take second, with Jewell settling for third, while Georgia’s Aaron Ridley and Michael Chilton would complete the top five. In the Modified portion of the Red Clay Bash, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY would score his second win in as many weeks and claim the open-wheel portion of the program over Tommy Bailey, Jimmy Payne, Dion Benningfield, and Jeff Rawlings.

    -For 2013, the Red Clay Bash was contested on the Friday prior to the Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge at Richmond (KY) Raceway and Chris Combs of Isom, KY would pick up the $3,000 payday when he made a turn two pass of race leader Dustin Linville in heavy traffic coming to the white flag to take the victory. Tenth place starter Greg Johnson would claim a third place finish, while 13th place starter Brad Neat and 14th place starter Victor Lee would complete the top five. In the Modified portion of the event, Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY would hold off the challenges of J.T. Ayers to pick up $1,000 for his efforts and take the win, with Don Adams, Benji Lee, and Dion Benningfield completing the top five. Other support division action would see Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY win the Pro Late Model feature, while Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY picked up the win in the Sportsman division feature.

    -The 2014 edition of the Red Clay Bash will be a special Saturday night event on Saturday September 27 and will feature the Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win, Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win, and Sportsman racing for $400 to win. As an added attraction, there will be Power Wheels races for the children and Spectator Drags for the adults.
