Busy Weekend for Kent Robinson Produces Fourth Win of '14

Bloomington, Indiana (09/22/14) – Kent Robinson got an early start to a busy weekend as he traveled to Terre Haute Action Track (Terre Haute, Indiana) on Wednesday night to pilot the #85 Jones Oil/LG2 Open Wheel Modified, where he picked up his fourth win of the season.

Round #1 of the two-day program saw twenty-four UMP Open Wheel Modifieds register for battle, and Kent won his preliminary heat race to lock into the feature. In the main event Robinson took the lead from his front row starting spot at the drop of the green flag. K-Rob led wire-to-wire, earning his fourth victory of the season over Dave Beck, Ken Schrader, A.J. Fike, and Kenny Carmichael Sr.

Seventeen UMP Open Wheel Modified returned for action on Thursday night, and Kent locked into the main event via preliminary action. Robinson assumed the point at the drop of the green flag, and held the lead for much of the event. On the final circuit, A.J. Fike made the pass to take control exiting the final turn coming to the checkered flag. Robinson settled for second followed by Ken Schrader and Roy Bruce Jr.

"I felt like we probably should've had two wins at Terre Haute, but we came up just a little short on the second one," said Robinson. "That's alright though, it was still a great run for the team."

Friday and Saturday found Robinson pulling double duty at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) in both the UMP Modified and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) ranks during the 35th Annual Jackson 100 festivities. His venture in the LOLMDS ranks would not go to his liking as he fell just short of making the cut for the finale on Saturday evening.

In the UMP Open Wheel Modified division his luck would prove to be much better. A strong field of thirty-five competitors registered for battle, and Kent raced from ninth to finish second in his heat race to earn the fifth starting spot for the main event. Throughout the feature, Robinson raced around the top five before ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth behind race winner, Ryan Thomas, Matt Boknecht, Michael England, and Chad Combs.

Robinson now turns his attention to the three day, mega-event at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa). Kent will participate in this weekend's 11th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals, which will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Action opens with $7,000-to-win features on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday's program will be headlined by a $40,000-to-win finale.
