Default Brinn jumping out of gear in reverse.

We finally got back on the track Saturday. The tranny worked fine at the shop and when we were loading the car. When we got in the pits, I could roll it about 3 feet in reverse and it would jump out of gear. Forward gears worked fine. Is this just a linkage adjustment or something more serious?

I'd unhook the shifter linkage, and slide it into gear with a pair of pliers (or what ever you can use to get a good grip on the shaft). You should feel it positively hit the detent. Sounds like your shifter handle might be hitting the mounting bracket, or maybe the linkages can't travel far enough.

You might need to put the shifter linkage in a different hole on the shifter to make the throw enough/not too much to work properly.

Make sure the shifter arms on the tranny are not hitting each other. We had to taper one arm at the top to clear the other.

I also had the shifter hit the mount and do the same thing. It hit on the square mounting block that bolts to the tunnell.
