    Default chipped ring gear

I have a set of gears I only use a few times a year and lent them to a buddy and when I got them back I noticed a chip in the pinion gear. Do you think they will hold up? All the teeth look fine but just a chip in one gear.

You would have to be crazy to install a chipped pinion gear . When it breaks it takes everything else with it and you don't finish the race.

It all depends where the pinion is chipped as the pattern doesn't normally run the complete length of the gear load up a pic of where it is chipped.

I set up a lot of gears and the pinion is the weaker of the two gears and shows the stress first as it's spinning so much faster. no matter what this set up needs to be replaced the risk it to great if you've ever seen what happens when a gear chips out and locks up the rearend while in a race it takes out everything in the drive train.
