    Default ATF in a Saginaw 3-speed?

    Talked to a guy who said he has been running ATF In his Saginaw 3-speeds for years with no problems......is that possible?

    Yes the only reason for gear oil is to keep them quiet. Auto trans fluid is fine.

    Same here ATF is all we have ran for years.

    How much do you put in?

    I just used Dexron III/Mercon. Fill just as you normally would, until it starts to come out the drain plug on the side.

    Atf here as well. Dexron 6 till it comes out of the fill plug.

    I used whatever was on the shelf at the local family dollar and filled it until it came back out as normal

    10 w hydraulic oil works good also
