It didn't give any details on what happened, & I can understand, the family may not want it public yet. I'm sure at some point it will be released..

JJ Sideways. He was a gentle giant of a mine with one more heavy right foot. The guy was always a threat to win when he lined up. One of the nicest guys in the pit area. I have fond memories of him and his J1 machines. RIP JJ.

As good a guy in the pits as there was. Hard to believe he's gone. Even though I had family and friends competing against him, never left the track unhappy if the j1 was in victory lane. He'll be missed.

The race I remember the most with JJ was at the Ice Bowl one year, the feature is always one lane around the bottom, but on this particular day, he and Mike Head put on a show like no other, they raced side by side for I don't know how long, seemed like at least half the race, Mike Head ended up winning, but he sure earned it, John Jones made sure he earned it, one of the best races I've ever seen.

John could drive anything anywhere at anytime. Always exciting and a factor to win by the time the race was over. He use to race at cleveland and load up haul azz to nga start in the rear and by the time the race was over he was up front.

First memory of John was in the Windy Williford #88 chevy 2. This was late 70's in the B class. Great driver and very friendly to the fans. RIP Big John
