I don't think anyone will be sealing the deal in the first weekend, and based on his performance so far this season if anyone does it wont be him. I'll watch for Kenny Pettyjohn and JT Spence to be ones to watch this weekend at both tracks. Dale Hollidge, Kenny Moreland and Jason Miller will also be drivers to keep an eye on for sure.

    Thanks,
    Jeff.

Mike Chapin was a great man. Watched him race as a kid.... They called him the chicken streaker. Was never fastest, always had a car that was a good 10 years older than what anybody else had. He showed up every week. They don't make guys like him anymore.

Years later he worked as the pit announcer at Junction. Walking through the pits one night. He came on and said, "Id like to have your beer, Id love to have your women, but I NEED to have your transponders or you don't get paid.

He made it out to Junction one more time before he passed last year. They let him speak at the drivers meeting and he got take a few more laps around the track. I believe he died the following Tuesday.

Thanks Huskerdirt for the story on Mike's career. Sounds like he more than deserves this recognition in the form of a memorial race.

I'm sure you will here some more stories about Mike this weekend.

Have a safe trip out to Nebraska. Junction is the nicest facility we have out here with a beautiful back drop.

I'm thinking I might do something nice with the wife this weekend, that should free me up for 2-3 months of racing coming up. It's worked the past few years so I'll take what $ I was going to spend on gas, food, tickets, etc. at Florence and have a nice date night with her.

This will work in my favor.
