    Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Oil Invades Ponderosa Speedway Friday April 3

    Junction City, KY-March 26, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter and staff are set to begin the 2015 racing season on Friday evening April 3 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” with the 3rd Annual Spring Showdown that will feature the Ray Cook promoted Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Oil, with Super Late Models racing for $4,000 to win.

    The event will be the middle stop of the 2015 Kentucky Triple Crown, with the OMG Spring Nationals tour at 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY on Thursday April 2 for the 2nd Annual Johnny Salyer Memorial and concluding the weekend with the 39th Annual Spring 50 at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday April 4.

    Ponderosa Speedway will present the 3rd Annual Spring Showdown for the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaffer Oil on Friday April 3. The Super Late Models will featured in a program that includes practice, A-B group time trials, dash (4 cars, 4 laps), last chance heats (10 laps), and the 40 lap/$4,000 to win/$400 to start 3rd Annual Spring Showdown A-Main. Also on the April 3 racing card will be Pro Late Models racing for $2,000 to win presented by Jay Construction and Restoration in a 40 lap main event, Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win in a 25 lap main event, and the KDRA Super Stocks racing in the inaugural event for the American Dirt Allstars, paying $1,000 to win in a 25 lap main event. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and transponder scoring will be in use. Drivers will pick up their transponders at the driver registration window and drivers need to be signed in by the time of the drivers meeting at 7:00 p.m. Super Late Models and Pro Late Models will time trial (2 cars at a time), while Modifieds and KDRA Super Stocks each will have a combined practice/time trial session.

    The entry fee for the Super Late Model division will be $100, plus a $20 transponder rental fee for timing and scoring purposes, per series rules ($10 if a driver has his/her own transponder). The entry fee for Pro Late Models is $50 (includes transponder fee), $25 for Modifieds (includes transponder fee), and $20 for KDRA Super Stocks (American Dirt Allstars paying transponder fee).

    The following will be the A-Main payout for the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Oil 3rd Annual Spring Showdown at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 3:
    *Super Late Models (40 laps): 1st- $4,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd- $1,400, 4th- $800, 5th- $700, 6th- $675, 7th- $650, 8th- $625, 9th- $600, 10th- $580, 11th- $560, 12th- $540, 13th- $520, 14th- $500, 15th- $480, 16th- $460, 17th- $440, 18th- $420, 19th- $400, 20th- $400, 21st- $400, 22nd- $400
    *Modifieds (25 laps): 1st- $1,000, 2nd- $500, 3rd- $400, 4th- $300, 5th- $275, 6th- $250, 7th- $225, 8th- $200, 9th- $175, 10th- $150, 11th- $125, 12th- $125, 13th- $125, 14th- $125, 15th- $125, 16th- $125, 17th- $125, 18th- $125

    For the Super Late Models, the tire rule for the event will be as follows: Hoosier- 1300 (LO1), 1350 (LO3), 1600 (LO6), LM 40 (both front and rear); American Racer- 44, 48, 56 (both front and rear). Tires will also be checked for soaking and by durometer for hardness before each car goes on the track for qualifying or any racing action. The car and driver weight rules for this event will be as follows: 2350 lbs. for an Open Motor, 2300 lbs. for a Steel Block/Aluminum Head - Spec Motor Only (8" spoiler allowed, 12" sides), 2250 lbs. for a CT525 Motor (8" spoiler allowed) and 2250 lbs. for an all Steel Motor or Crate Motor (8" spoiler allowed, 12" sides). There will be a pound per lap burnoff plus 5 lbs. in B-Mains and in the Feature. The use of a HANS device receives a 30 lb. weight break and the use of working Fire Extinguisher receives a 20 lb. weight break. There is a $200 bonus to highest finishing CT525 engine equipped entry in the A-Main event and $200 bonus to highest finishing SPEC/Steel Head engine equipped entry in the A-Main event.

    Activities for the April 3 Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Oil 3rd Annual Spring Showdown event at Ponderosa Speedway will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to start at 7:20 p.m. Time trials will begin at 7:45 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times are Eastern Daylight Times. Tickets prices for the April 3 event in the general admission area will be $20, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $40.

    The Spring Showdown debuted on the track schedule in 2013 and Victor Lee of Danville, KY was the inaugural winner of the event. Lee would top Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY, Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY, Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, and Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN and collect $3,000 for his efforts in the event that was originally on the OMG Spring Nationals schedule, but was rained out and later ran as an unsanctioned event. The 2014 contest would see the OMG Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Oil make their official debut at Ponderosa Speedway and Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would pick up a $4,000 payday over Eric Wells of Hazard, KY, Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, PA, Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY, and Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN.
