It was a good race.........just wish more folks would have been there in person to watch it.

Decent crowd, but still a lot of ass less seats for a race that used to sell out.

It and darlington are generally races that even nascar can't screw up.......yet

It couldn't of been colder than the spring race at Bristol was last year.

Had I flew or driven out from Ca. for the race I would have gone because I came a great distance, but I can see someone that is relatively close not going and freezing their tails off... I have been to fall races in California that I won't do again cause you freeze your butt off, Ventura is one in the fall around Thanksgiving....so cold ya had to buy two cups of coffee just to keep your hands warm...

Because clearly ( to an un stoned person) I said that the race was a good one......it's the empty seats that had me scratching my head.

I would be totally ok with maybe running two qualifying races of 50 or so laps, and then running a feature of 100 - 150 laps with only the top 24 or so from the qualifying races. 43 cars on a half-mile has gotten to be too many when no one can pass without bumping. NASCAR has got to start mixing things up a little bit. Take some hints from the trucks at Eldora.

Turtle, back in the days before all the gimmicks and huge sponsorship sellout 32 cars was a full field on the shorter tracks. 32 was about right for places like Martinsville, Bristol, North Wilkesboro and the old Richmond Fairgrounds track. When television started pumping big money into the mix 32 cars would no longer please the sponsors and NASCAR liked the idea of the additional entry fee cash. The big money sponsors wanted their cars on TV no matter if they were racing at Talladega or Martinsville, thus the 43 car starting field at all tracks regardless of length.

Back in 72 they would start 50 cars at Talladega Big Bill said it would make the track look full with the extra cars.

Ive got to agree with you BBQBOY the race was a good one but nascar is still lacking on getting the butts in the seats and that is what mudwindowlicker is clearly not seeing... He must have some smoke in his eyes from all them blunts he's probably smoking out there in Cali....

But the one thing that isn't lacking at martinsville are those red weenie chili dogs.......have been to martinsville probably twenty times over the years.....and have never failed to get at least 3 each visit.

They got some good press yesterday from the weenie brothers in the Hollywood hotel!!!

    Litey would love that place.....

    Yep, your right Nasty.

It appears that back in the day before the gimmicks and all the TV money NASCAR seemed to tailor their rules according to what was conducive to presenting highest quality racing entertainment. Since about 12 years ago the rules have been tailored to please the folks that are spending the most money, and that ain't the spectators.
