“The Dawn of a New Era” Season Opener Set for Richmond Raceway on Saturday April 11

Richmond, KY- April 5, 2015- Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are set to present “The Dawn of a New Era” at Richmond Raceway this Saturday April 11 as the 3/10 mile clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” will kick off the 2015 racing season with the “The Dawn of a New Era” Season Opener, featuring all weekly racing divisions in competition.

This will be the first event at Richmond Raceway since the Yantz family acquired the track back in August of 2014 and while many improvements have already been made, many more are currently still under construction or in the works and the track wants to thank everyone for their interest and support during the off-season and ask for their continued patience and support with on-going track projects that will hopefully make the racer and fan experience at Richmond Raceway a great one.

Richmond Raceway will present “The Dawn of a New Era” Season Opener at Richmond Raceway on Saturday April 11. Super Late Models will be in action, racing 25 laps for $1,200 to win and Modifieds will be in action, racing 20 laps for $800 to win. The Pro Late Models will compete for $600 to win in a 20 lap main event, while the KDRA Super Stocks will race for $500 to win in a 15 lap main event. Four Cylinders return to the track for the first time since 2013, with their feature contest being 12 laps for $300 to win, with the Mini-Cup/Cyclone division debuting at Richmond Raceway, racing 10 laps for $100 to win. All divisions will participate in heat race events that will determine the starting line-up for their feature events. The Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Late Models, and KDRA Super Stocks will practice/time trial, with their best time in practice determining their heat race starting positions, while Four Cylinders and Mini-Cup/Cyclones will practice, but draw for heat race starting positions.

Richmond Raceway will be using a transponder scoring system to time and score the cars during the 2015 season. Drivers must pick up a transponder at driver registration ($10 rental fee; $5 if they have their own) and the transponder must be mounted on the right-rear axle tube of the race car. Also, for a driver to get paid at the end of the night, they must return their transponder when they come to pick up their prize money. RACEceivers are also mandatory for use at Richmond Raceway in 2015 in all divisions. RACEceivers and transponders must be in use each time the cars are on the racing surface.

Activities for “The Dawn of a New Era” Season Opener at Richmond Raceway on Saturday April 11 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:15 p.m., with practice laps set to begin around 6:30 p.m., with the first race taking the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the “Dawn of a New Era” Season Opener on Saturday April 11 in the general admission area will be $13 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. For the pit area, adult prices will be $30, with children ages 6 to 12 costing $15, and children ages five and under FREE. If a driver races in more than one division, that driver has to buy a second pit pass. Also, any driver under the age of 18 will have to have a notorized release signed by both parents before that driver is eligible to compete at Richmond Raceway, due to insurance regulations.
