Transponder timing

I have noticed at some tracks where transponders are used that some people in the stands are using
an APP or software on their smartphone to keep up with the timing. Does anyone know what this is.
Have searched without any luck.

The app is free but live timing as the race is underway is not. It's 5 bucks for live timing. It updates the standings as the cars pass the line. It shows postion, last lap time, fastest lap, and gap difference from leader in real time.

The link I posted above requires no app and requires no payment. Just go to the website at the time of the race.

You learn something everyday. I have the app on my iPhone which you do have to pay for live timing. I wasn't aware of it being free on the website.
