Default April 18th , Carolina Clash race for $6k @ Volunteer Speedway

Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series $6,000-to-win ‘Spring Thaw’ scheduled Saturday, April 18 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Race fans from all 50 states and also from several foreign countries visit the East Tennessee region two times a year for NASCAR racing at nearby Bristol Motor Speedway, and many make the short drive down Interstate 81 to take in a night of exciting dirt racing on the high banks at Volunteer Speedway.

The “14th annual Spring Thaw – Late Model Mania” is scheduled Saturday, April 18. The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will headline the all-late model racing program in a $6,000-to-win event, along with Steel-Head Late Model ($2,000-to-win) and Sportsman Late Model ($800-to-win) features.

This will be the second of five scheduled visits this season for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series to Volunteer Speedway, which is celebrating its 42nd season of dirt-track racing in East Tennessee. Chad Ogle of Sevierville led flag-to-flag in winning round one of “Carolinas vs. Tennessee Border Wars @ The Gap!” on April 4.

Pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and grandstand gate at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Hot laps are tentatively scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., followed by qualifying at 8 p.m. and then green flag racing action around 8:45 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $20, youth (ages 11-15) $5, with kids 10-and-under admitted free. Pit passes $35 per person (regardless of age).

Also, no coolers or outside food allowed to be brought into the front straightaway (main) grandstand!!! Coolers are only permitted in the backstretch tier-parking, however no glass containers allowed.

Camping is available on the track property, however, with no hookups. For those camping, once you enter through the main gates, drive over to your right and set-up in the designated area.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left.
