    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The “D.R. Eriksen Grand Prix!” at Hesston Marks the Return of UFo to Planet Earth!

(Mars, PA) The UFo Championship makes it highly-anticipated return to planet earth at Hesston Speedway on May 24.
The “D.R. Eriksen Grand Prix” will pay $4,056 to win and now has a possible increased feature starting grid for the Super Late Models.

The “D.R. Eriksen Grand Prix” will be dedicated to the memory of the man who rebuilt Hesston Speedway during the first half of the decade. The “Dirt Doctor’” as he was nicknamed, was well-known for rewarding racers for attendance and successful events. JELT Enterprises, Inc., the new owners of Hesston, is following the same formula of success.

To encourage and reward driver support of the event, the “D.R. Eriksen Grand Prix” will now have a feature starting grid based on car count for the UFo Super Late Models. Higher car counts will translate to more feature starting positions. This was a policy that D.R developed in his final events that helped generate large car counts at Hesston when car counts were decreasing at similar events.

Up to 30 cars will now start the 56 lap UFo Super Late Model championship. The winner will receive $4,056 with $400 for 24th. Positions 25+ will pay $375 if they are utilized. If 33 cars are present, 26 cars will start the feature. 37 cars will make a 28 car feature. 41+ cars will make a spectacular 30 car feature.

Late model fans find paradise at Hesston Speedway with its full-throttle, dual late model division program at UFo events. The track’s mighty Semi-Late class (limited/steel block/crate late model combined) will also run a 30 lap championship pay $1,000 to win and $125 to start. The two combined late model classes should generate over 50 late model type cars.

Also on the program are A-Cadets (street) racing 25 laps for $575 to win and $80 to start. Hobby-Modifieds (pure stock) will race 20 laps for $300 to win and $45 to start. The Roadrunners will race 15 laps for $200 to win and $38 to start. Cadets and Hobby-Modifieds also have weight and/or spoiler variations to allow cars with different equipment to race together competitively. Hobby and Roadrunners are extended-lap, feature-only programs.

On May 24, pit gates will open at 2:00 with grandstands opening at 4:30. Pill draw will end at 5:45 with racing or Super Late Model warm-ups at 6:30. Grandstand admission will be $20 with children 12 and under free in grandstands. All pit tickets will cost $36. Super Late Model entry fee will be $25.

Hesston will also give the Super Late Models an additional chance to hit the high banks on Saturday May 16. With Port Royal Speedway taking their spring break, Hesston will be hosting the Super Late Models for “the Hesston Trophy.” The 30 lap feature will pay $1,500 to win, $200 to start and $150 to non-qualifiers. Semi-Lates, A-Cadets, Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners will also compete in their “Hi-Octane” racing programs.

On May 16 pit gates will open at 3:00 with grandstands opening at 5:00. Pill draw will end at 5:45 with racing at 6:30. Grandstand admission will be $14, with children 12 and under free in the grandstands. All pit tickets will cost $28.

The next UFo Super Late Model event is scheduled for Friday, June 12 at Dog Hollow Speedway. The “Shawn McGarvey Championship” will pay $3,000 to win, and $250 to start for a 41 lap feature. This race honors Shawn McGarvey, who is a multi-time Dog Hollow champion and finished 5th in the initial year of UFo points. Dog Hollow Speedway has become a major venue for Super Late Model racing in 2015, with large fields of cars and three-wide racing this season.

The UFo Championship will land at Port Royal Speedway for the first time ever on June 20. The “Tri-STAR Sizzler” will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start for the 35 lap feature on the clay superspeedway. 410 Sprints and Econo Late Models will make up the triple program of power.

The summer’s blockbuster event is less than two months away. UFo Super Late Models will race for a total of $12,000 possible to win Tyler County Speedway on July 10-11. Each night will see a 44 lap, $5,000 to win, $300 to start feature event. The top 12 positions of Saturday’s feature will be determined by the finish of Friday’s feature, with an inverted start. Any driver that wins both features will collect at $2,000 bonus from ASi Racewear. Drivers who register early with the track will save $20 on the entry fee. Drivers who register early and make the features will be guaranteed $330 to start. Track contacts for early registration follow below.

The “New” UFo Championship is an alliance between Hesston Speedway, Dog Hollow Speeday, Tyler County Speedway and Port Royal Speedway. The tour offers Super Late Model drivers great payoffs and a strong year-end point fund with minimal travel distances. Point fund sponsors include Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire, Precise Racing Equipment and Townsend Gas and Oil. Point fund payoff is contingent on track and sponsor obligation fulfillment.

Hesston is a really nice place but as long as they have that Doug promoting things they wont get a lot of cars. Last week they have 18 supers and they drew the top 12 for the feature what a joke. He ran the UFO series into the ground before and he will do it again.
