Ponderosa Speedway Returns to Action with Weekend Warrior June 19; Pete Abell Memorial June 20

Junction City, KY-June 7, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway will again be off this Friday June 12 (closed for Boyle County Fair), but track promoter Jerry Denson will return the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” to action with a doubleheader of racing action on Friday June 19 with the 5th Annual Weekend Warrior and on Saturday June 20 with the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial.

Ponderosa Speedway will present the 5th Annual Weekend Warrior event on Friday June 19 and will see the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models in action for $800 to win and Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks in action for $600 to win. Joining the competition at the Weekend Warrior event on Friday June 19 will be Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $1,000 to win and Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds racing for $700 to win, with the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclones completing the race card, racing for $100 to win. All divisions will utilize the practice/time trials combo format to determine heat race starting positions. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and transponder scoring will be in use. Drivers will pick up their transponders at the driver registration window and drivers need to be signed in by the time of the drivers meeting at 7:00 p.m. There will also be the added attraction of spectator drags during intermission on Friday June 19, with the winner getting $50 courtesy of Smalltown Auto Sales. There will be NO entry fees in any division on Friday June 19.

Activities for the Friday June 19 racing program at Ponderosa Speedway will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to start at 7:15 p.m., while racing will take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times are Eastern Daylight Times. Tickets prices for the Friday June 19 event in the general admission area will be $17 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35.

Ponderosa Speedway will present a special Saturday evening program of racing action on Saturday June 20 as the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial will be contested, paying $3,000 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models and $1,000 to win for Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds. Also on the Pete Abell Memorial racing card on Saturday June 20 will be Premier Integrity Solutuions Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win and Lawson Tractor Sales KDRA Super Stocks racing for $400 to win, with the Four Cylinder division returning for another night of action, paying $300 to win (based on 8 or more entries). All divisions will utilize the practice/time trials combo format to determine heat race starting positions, except for Super Late Models, as they will time trial two laps, two cars at a time. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and transponder scoring will be in use. Drivers will pick up their transponders at the driver registration window and drivers need to be signed in by the time of the drivers meeting at 6:30 p.m. There will be a $60 entry fee in the Super Late Model division for this event (entry fee does include transponder), while the other divisions will not have an entry fee on Saturday June 20.

Activities for the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event on Saturday June 20 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., with practice/time trials set to start at 7:00 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Tickets prices for the Saturday June 20 event in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35.
