(Jamaica, Virginia) – The drivers, teams and fans of the FASTRAK Racing Series witnessed yet another spectacular show at Virginia Motor Speedway with the second visit of the FASTRAK National Tour being a part of the 38th Annual USA 100 for the first time ever. When the checkers fell and the dust settled it was #87 Walker Arthur from Forrest, VA looking to be a repeat winner, however #16 Daniel Baggerly who led most of the show fought back, held off “The Bull”, negotiating through late race heavy lapped traffic and if that wasn’t enough the elements of weather to beat all the obstacles taking the win hoisting the “Flying Eagle” in FASTRAK National Tour portion of the USA 100.
The race offered it all again as the “FASTRAK’s Elite” took on Bill Sawyer’s ½ mile playground nestled in the “Tidewater Region” of the Commonwealth State and didn't disappoint. The race had it all exciting 3,4 and 5 wide excitement. The race was quickly a “nail bitter” for all the masses of fans in attendance. The event was slowed only three times for yellow. Fighting the chance of thunderstorms and lingering ‘pesky’ precipitation, it didn't stop the drivers from going to the end.
When the 40 lap FASTRAK National Tour event got underway “home track” favorites #16 Daniel Baggerly of Richmond, VA and #71 Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, VA led the field to green with Baggerly jumping out the lead. Once out front Baggerly began to pull away from the field leaving Lipscombe to deal with Walker Arthur of Forest, VA for second.
Arthur got by Lipscombe on lap 19 and set out to catch Baggerly who had stretched his lead to about ten car lengths. On lap 22 Baggerly began working lapped traffic with Arthur closing quickly. With Arthur now on his bumper Baggerly split two lapped cars to get away by a couple of car lengths. On lap 25 Baggerly made a slight mistake in turn 1 allowing Arthur to get inside for the lead. On lap 28 Baggerly closed in on Arthur then dove under him heading into turn 4 to take back the top spot. Once out front Baggerly turned up the wick, never looked back and went on to collect his first career FASTRAK National Tour event and the $3,000 top prize. Rounding out the top five were Walker Arthur, Davis Lipscombe, Tyler Bare and Ray Cook. Winning heats were David Lipscombe, Daniel Baggerly and Walker Arthur. The caution would slow the action three times in the events with #19 Scott Tessman and #24 Matthew Nance causing the yellows for stalled machines on track. The #09 Brad Rigdon also caused the final caution after cutting down a tire and sustaining damage.
