    Default ford 2.3 timing???

What would advancing/retarding the cam do as far as compression, currently we have 125lbs in each cylinder, timed at 34 degrees at the crank and advanced 2degrees on the cam. shaved the block and milled the head .120. what would you guys recommend?

Well the one way to find your answer is try it yourself. Retard the cam and do a compression test then advance the cam and test again. If you are only moving either way a couple of degrees you might not see a difference. A larger swing you will see a difference. One of the things you need to do is degree the cam properly to start with using a degree wheel to find "True Zero". Your cam might be out a few degrees from what you think it is now, so you think it is 2 degrees advanced but it might actually be more or less. Advancing the cam will give you a bit more bottom end and retarding will give a little more top end. Getting the cam degreed properly to start with is the key. Have fun!
