Ponderosa Speedway Idle Until Doubleheader Weekend June 19 and June 20

Junction City, KY-May 31, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson will be have the 3/8 mile D-shaped oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” closed the next two weeks in preparation for a Friday/Saturday doubleheader of racing action on June 19 and June 20.

The track will be closed this Friday June 5 due to the Dream 100 event at Eldora Speedway and will again be closed on Friday June 12 in support of the Boyle County Fair.

The next racing action at Ponderosa Speedway will take place on Friday June 19 and will be the 5th Annual Weekend Warrior event that will pay $800 to win for the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model division and $600 to win for the Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks. Also on the Friday June 19 racing card will be the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $1,000 to win and the Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds racing for $700 to win. Completing the racing program on Friday June 19 will be the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclone division and there will also be Spectator Drags on Friday June 19 during intermission, with $50 going to the winner courtesy of Smalltown Auto Sales.

The following evening, the track will present a special Saturday program on Saturday June 20 as the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event will be contested, with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win and the Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win. Also participating in the Pete Abell Memorial racing program on Saturday June 20 will be the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win and the Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks racing for $400 to win. Four Cylinders will also return to action at Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday June 20 to complete the racing card.

Activities for the next scheduled racing program at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday June 19 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice/time trials set to begin at 7:15 p.m., with green flag racing set for 8:30 p.m. All times listed are Eastern Daylight Times. Activities for the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event on Saturday June 20 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., with practice/time trials set to start at 7:00 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Admission prices will be released in an upcoming press release previewing the event.
