CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are eight races in five states on the Week 11 schedule of events for the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. Two races will be held on Friday night, and six events are scheduled for Saturday night. Several drivers have been on the move in recent weeks moving up the points list, and will try to continue that climb this weekend.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS will be in action with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 11 Friday night races. Some championship drama unfolded last Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway between two title contenders.

Point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS will be looking to return to the winner’s circle at his home track after Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS showed up last Friday night to take the win and move into the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. Palasini will be returning to the friendly confines of his home track, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS on Saturday night.

Palasini has had to do some traveling in the first ten weeks of the season to stay in title contention, as Greenville Speedway has been rained out five out of seven weeks. Palasini has won both races held so far this season at Greenville Speedway. Because of the large number of rainouts, Greenville Speedway will host a Double Feature event on June 20 with a Week 4 Make-Up Race.

The highlight of the Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 11 schedule will be a $1,000-to-win Southern Crate Late Model Series race at 171 Speedway in Leesville, LA. Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX leads the SCLMS point standings after the first three races of the 2015 season that are co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.

Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will also be hosting a $1,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model race on Saturday night. Also in action with Week 11 Saturday night races are Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Arnold leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 430 points, and will be looking to extend his series leading total of six wins this season. Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is second in the standings with 372 points, and he also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 332 points and his teammate, 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fourth with 326 points. Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS is fifth with 302 points, and 13-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is sixth with 291 points. Skinner also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is seventh in the standings with 282 points, and Palasini is eighth with 248 points. Palasini will be looking for his fifth straight win in Week 11 competition.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is ninth with 246 points, and Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 243 points. Since some drivers have raced more weeks than others, the Weekly Point Average, or WPA, is a better gauge to see just where a driver stands in relation to others before reaching the 14-week mark of the season. The WPA is a driver’s point total divided by the number of weeks they have raced.

Palasini has competed for five weeks and has the highest WPA among the Top 20 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings at 49.6 out of a possible 50. Cummings, who has also raced for five weeks, has the second highest WPA at 48.6. Skinner has six weeks of competition under his belt and has the third highest WPA at 48.5.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS is just outside the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings in the 11th spot, but after racing for five weeks, he has the fourth WPA at 48.2. Point leader Arnold has the fifth highest WPA at 47.78 after nine weeks of racing, and Lee has the sixth highest WPA at 47.43 after competing for seven weeks.

The Southern Crate Late Model Series point leader Starnes is 13th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, but after five weeks of competition has the seventh highest WPA at 47.2. Keeton has the eighth highest WPA at 47 after six weeks of racing and the ninth highest WPA belongs to Daspit at 46.57 after seven weeks of racing. Joiner has the tenth highest WPA at 46.5 after eight weeks of racing.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
