CARTERSVILLE, GA – Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL continued his winning ways over the weekend to remain on top of the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger. The weekend did see some movement behind Skinner in the Top 10 points fund paying positions.

Skinner drove the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. It was the fifth win of the 2015 season for the 13-year-old driver.

Skinner leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings with 423 points after five wins, seven top five finished and eight top ten finishes in ten races. Skinner holds an 85-point lead in the standings over a new second-place challenger, 17-year-old Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL, who has 338 points. Daffron drove the TSR Race Cars Warrior to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. In seven races, Daffron has three top five finishes and five top ten finishes.

Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS and Tyler Clem of St. Petersburg, FL did not compete in NeSmith Late Model action over the weekend, and are third and fourth respectively in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings.

Marsh has 305 points after the 15-year-old driver has turned in three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in eight NeSmith Late Model races driving the Modern Woodmen Trak-Star. Clem has 224 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes for the 12-year-old driver in five NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races in the Vahlco Wheels Rocket.

Dylan Allen of Baytown, TX drove the Hi-Tech Valve Company Trak-Star to a fifth-place finish last Saturday night in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model race at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX. That moved the 15-year-old driver up to the fifth spot in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings with 220 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in five races.

Colton Horner, age 12 of Katy, TX, Josh Banes, age 17 of Learned, MS, Michael Lake, age 14 of Uniontown, PA, and Logan Roberson, age 17 of Waynesboro, VA did not compete over the weekend in NeSmith Late Model competition and are sixth through ninth respectively in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings.

Horner has 219 points after two top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five races driving the Houston Specialty Products Special. Banes has 202 points after one top five finish and four top ten finishes in five races driving the Diversified Pest Management Special. Lake has 123 points after one top ten finish in three races driving the Bobby Lake Motorsports Special. Roberson has 91 points in three races driving the Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms Special.

The newest member of the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series Class of 2015 is 13-yesr-old Will Roland of Jasper, GA, who made his NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division debut over the weekend. Roland made both feature events at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC and 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Roland Tire Warrior.

Roland earned 82 points in the two races to move into the tenth and final points fund-paying position in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series standings.

Sunoco Race Fuels, the Official Race Fuel of NeSmith Racing, is posting a $5,000 point fund for the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series that pays back ten spots and awards $1,000 to the top Sunoco Young Gun at the end of the season.
